R.I.P RS4 (insurance advice please)

ok where do i start?
sadly on january 3rd i hit some flood water on a very dark country lane, the car cut out and died, i got it going again in order to attempt to get home but then all sorts of noises came from the engine and before i could turn it off it stopped working. the noise was horrendous.

anyway phoned insurance, they recovered and took the car away and within a week i was supposed to get an engineer to contact me to tell me there fixing it or its a write off, 2 months on this call never arrived? in the mean time i was given a courtesy car so it wasnt the end of the world until i was told by cat hire there coming to collect the car at which point the insurance extended the car hire.

now this call has still not come? and every week they are extending my car hire, they wont give me straight answers either other than it is a write off, once i was told they thought it had been dealt witrh so the files were wiped from the system, them its they lost the paper work then its now they have the paperwork but need to agree a price then now its being investigated????

WTF is going on here? i have no car for nearly 3 months, i have no pay out, they wont or cant give me any details as to what exactly has happened or anything

ive never been through a claim before so can anyone advise?

im also told i will get fobbed off with a crap price yet even a very banged up thrashed rs4 still goes for around 12k and mine was far from banged up it was my baby and well looked after but also in the rare sprint blue which i believe only around 400 exist,

so how much do you think is acceptable from car insurance?

any help and advice appreciated, i actually think the car has been stolen for parts or wrongly scrapped as they thought the matter had been dealt with but again i have no idea

Sorry to hear this.

That's completely unacceptable I'd escalate within the company until you get an answer. Often insurers are under one group, maybe try the parent company and keep making yourself a massive nuisance until you get action.

Thanks mate, yes agreed especially as even now 2 months later i am non the wiser of whats actually going on, its a joke.

i am thinking of escalating but id rather get my pay out first encase i rock the boat so to speak.

rather not say who before its settled but will happily name after its dealt with, but it is a huge company not even some back street company, not sure whats so hard? give me a price and take it from there but nope absolutely nothing, no payout, no car, dont know where my car is or anything ? crazy

Hi mate insurance companies do this and look for a way not to pay out, have had this before but many years ago, also investigated me. Does your insurance company know about all the mods to the car? If not you can guarantee that will be their way out of not paying, on the other hand ring them every day and ask to speak with claims managers or underwriters engineers until you get answers

really ??? i bloody hope not i cant afford another car, surely it wouldn't take this long? plus there paying for my courtesy car you would think they would had resolved this long ago to save paying for this car?

another question, worst thing happens and as you say they do not pay out what do i do with the car? do i just advertise it as parts or repair? i have no idea and what should i be asking price wise as the wheels are only 12 months old it has the milltek on it ect ect and the wrap around bucket seats. i hope to god this aint the case im worried now

Mate I’m surprised you haven’t put a complaint in already they are clearly taking the piss even if they were investigating they should keep you informed of what is going on and not ghosting you (pardon the pun!)

ok update

they have paid me out today thankfully, that was touch and go i didnt think i was going to get paid for the reasons m5killer stated.... as i was not exspecting anything i guess the £11,100 is acceptable i mean its better than nothing lol. plus i get to keep the courtesy car for 5 days in order to go find another car so it ended well i guess other than i lost my RS4 which i absolutly loved but i guess its time to move on.

You should have asked to keep the car and a lump sum and got the engine repaired, if you haven't already accepted the payout I would go that route as you won't get another RS4 for 11k
