Ceramic brakes - chips from friction surface

Hello!

I`m currently looking at an RS6 C7.5 performance Dynamic+ (2017 mod). There is a chip missing from the ceramic brake disk (see picture). Now - as I see it - this must be replaced if I am buying the car. The owner, and also the Audi workshop, says that this is ok for normal use (not track days etc). So I wonder - have anyone experienced something like this before?

Ok, tnx. Can I ask: do you have any experience with this, or is it enough just to interpret the picture?
My interpretation of the picture is that it is more than just the surface that is missing, its deeper down in the disk structure?!

I agree this should be replaced. I would not buy it unless it was.
How many miles has the car done. Have the discs been weighed and checked against the minimum weight marked on the bell? I would inspect the other 3 too.

I had ceramics on my last B7 RS4 and did a lot of reading up on them before purchase. Everything I read said once the integrity of the disk had been compromised be it a chip or graze they should be replaced. This looks to be on the surface in my eyes. Surface or deeper down if it’s not 100% right it needs replacing. Again, in my opinion. HTH.

The car has done 89k. It has been checked by an authorized Audi workshop (this week), and they approved it... anyhow - I did not know that it is common to weigh the discs, thanks for the tip. In a ATU 2018 (Audi Technical Update) several topics concerning ceramic breaks was discussed, and one of them was about this topic. And it stated that chips bigger than 1 cm2, the disk MUST be replaced. So you are in line with the ATU.
