Speedo and rev counter not working

Post by SimonBurchett1984 » Mon Aug 07, 2023 9:44 am

Morning guys.

Yesterday I took my instrument cluster out to have look at one of the dials, the fuel gauge wasn’t going down (thought it was to good to be true…..!!) sorted that, felt like it just got stuck now it seems to be working again going to down when engine is off.
When I drove it this morning I discovered that the speedo and rev counter are sitting on the red dots at 10mph on the speedo and just below 1000rpmOn the rev counter. It does this when the car moving at any speed and also when the ignition isn’t on. Anyone have any ideas or could it be simply I’ve missed something when putting it back together. I’ve checked at 3 plugs and they are all ok.

Cheers.
Simon.

Sounds like a voltage regulator failure in the cluster. There are specialist companies that fix this kind of fault.

Otherwise you’ll need a new (used) cluster but it’s a pain to code them in.

You could try contacting this company:

https://www.ecutesting.com/categories/i ... -clusters/

But I don’t have any direct experience of them.

Steve, who did your LCD display replacement?

Hi Ben. I will dig out the info and reply here.
Here you go.
Cartronix 07425 621583.
They guaranteed the repair for life. Meaning as long as I own the car.
They were brilliant to deal with.

Ps. I wish I had your memory ?

Simon. No idea what’s wrong with it. If you were local we could have tried my spare cluster.
I then realised it’s a pain to recode the cluster.
Something I couldn’t do.
