Newbie around Mansfield

Post by grahamc » Fri Aug 04, 2023 1:22 pm

Hello all,

So a couple of months ago I bought 2014 RS4 as a daily replacement (sub 50k miles), lovely car, but issues :audibash: all started with a misfire that didnt get fixed until engine failure. Luckily I bought from a dealer with a warranty and after a bit of back and forth the engine is getting replaced. Hope to have the car back by the end of August.

For the Audi:-
-I have already bought a screen (MMI) replacement which I will fit once the car is back
-I am looking at going down to 19" wheels for slightly more compliance on the pothole filed roads... any advise on this one?
-I would like to fit a roof rack - more specifically one that doesnt whistle at motorway speeds... suggestions?
-I would like to add a bit more noise, but dont fancy a CAT back change, are there any good simple options to liven it up without the full change?

History.... I have had a mix of Jap (Subarus, Supras, MX5 track car, etc) and Euro cars, most recently Nissan R35 GTR (650bhp) which I loved and some classics (Datsun 240z - full restore). Currently I have:-
-The Audi :blackrs4:
-MK1 Ford Escort with a ST170 engine - used Retro Ford kit but done with a friend in his grandmothers garage
-Mercedes AMG GT-S
-Subaru STi Hatchback
Collection:-
Audi RS4 B8.5
Mercedes AMG GT-S
Subaru STi hatchback
Ford Escort MK1 with ST170 engine

As for your Audi RS4, here are some suggestions and advice for the modifications and improvements you're considering:

Engine Replacement and Warranty as your engine issue is covered by warranty. Hang on to all paperwork and emails related to this. It could be handy down the road.
Swapping out the MMI screen can make your ride feel more modern. Just take your time installing it to avoid any mishaps.
Wheel Downsizing to 19 could help you to run smoothly on rough roads. Just double-check the fit and make sure they match your car's specs.
For a whisper-quiet roof rack, check out brands like Thule or Yakima. They usually have options that keep wind noise in check.

Swap or remove the resonator for a bit more sound.
A sportier muffler could dial up the volume just right.
Look into electronic exhaust valve mods for some control over the noise.

Hope this would definitely be helpful for you as I've also experience a similar unfortunate situation with my audi go karting tips. Looking forward to seeing your RS4 back on the road.
