Clutch Recomendations

Post by willu17 » Wed Aug 02, 2023 10:11 pm

My Sachs updated race clutch lasted all of 1300 miles on my supercharged RS4 before destroying itself and taking the flywheel with it. Owned the car 12 days before it died, so it’s left a very sour taste.

I’ve ordered a replacement OEM dual mass from Rock auto as I don’t want to do down the single mass flywheel (car is plenty fast enough and I don’t need the quicker spooling, less smooth single mass for my needs).

I’m hesitant to get another sachs put on her, although it may have just been a faulty part/bad install so maybe I shouldn’t be too concerned?

I’m wondering what else people recommend?

I’ve already spent close to £800 trying to diagnose the issue (new slave, master, new clutch return braided hose and steel pipe fittings) only to find out that my clutch has died so I’m hesitant to get an American import as the shipping and import duty will further swell what’s going to be a big bill!

So far I have been recommended a ‘clutchmaster 8 puck’ and a ‘ringer racing’ stage 3,4 or 5. All come in at about £900 before you Factor in import charges.

I’ve been without my car for the best part of a month so I’m keen to get this resolved ASAP.

TIA. W

Any thoughts welcome.
