Bugger! Rust in the rear arch.

Post by ChrisA » Wed Jun 21, 2023 3:33 pm

EDIT Heads up guys, this could be an unchecked common issue as I’ve just removed the liner for the off side and in exactly the same place is the same issue. At first it looked like it was just surface issues but after a little poke around with a small bladed screwdriver a hole appeared. 😬

 I removed the rear arch lining today to give it a through clean and I’m gutted to have found a little rust issue.

Thankfully being behind the lining it will be very discreet and it looks like a relatively simple fix (not that I can weld). So on the plus side it’s better to have caught it early. 👍

Hi guys
Just another update on this.

I finally had the rust checked out and repaired today. Again, please do get the trim off and take a look at your arches. I caught mine just in time, if this had been allowed to linger for another few years it would have been a real pain in the arse to fix.

My cars a 2005 with around 85k on the clock. 😬
