Unit 20 trip

Post by steve2003rs6 » Wed Apr 13, 2022 2:53 pm

Just back from unit 20.
Cambelt and associated parts all done.
Full service performed.
All door locks replaced.
Just filled up with vpower. Mileage range showing 555 miles. Now that’s a first. Usually shows 360 ish.
Presuming this is because of the changed coolant temperature sensor.

Door locks.
Lights left on warning buzzer back to working. Lost this facility a while back. Good to have it working again.
Drivers Door light the red light when door open is now working again.
Will plug in VCDS tomorrow and see if the “won’t safe” and “won’t desafe” issues have been fixed.

And shiney new hand brake cable clamps installed.

All in all a very good trip and the car has driven beautifully
Long May it continue.

Quite a few c5,s there for service work.

Foxmeister. I think that covers the cambelt costs.
Worth every penny imo.
Hope this helps mate.

Ps don’t forget to add for the dreaded vat.
Don’t know why photos are never the right way up.

Pps Grizz mentioned that genuine oil filters are becoming hard to get hold of.
But he has stocked up on them from what was available.

Yes mate that is supply and fitting for the cambelt.
I think the labour bit is at the bottom. £487.50.
Then add the parts up
Then add vat.
Took me a while to figure it out ?
Where are you located. Near unit 20 ?
I am 160 miles away but unit 20 is the only place I take my car. I trust them 100%.

It's around £1500 I take it? Glad mine was done fairly recently.

I'm still getting some safe and won't desafe errors on VCDS but central locking still working fine aswell as the auto locking function.

Enjoy!

Matty. I believe that your problem is very similar to mine.
Door lock micro switches. Two switches on each lock.

Audi charged me £1500 for cambelt 8 years ago.
So £1500 ish today was a nice surprise.

As previously stated light left on buzzer thankfully now works.
Door open red warning light now works.
My central locking and auto locking worked fine.
But on auto scan I always got intermittent won’t safe and won’t desafe errors which pissed me off.
So hopefully won’t safe and won’t desafe errors are now finally sorted. Will know tomorrow when I connect VCDS and do a auto scan.

I am soooooooo close to finally meeting my objective.
Which is a fault free auto scan.
I know I will always have a tpms error. It’s switched off as I don’t have tpms sensors installed.

Ps are you still happy with your central locking issue ?
The ccm I bought was a just in case I need it syndrome!
But your need was greater than mine.

Where did the locks come from ? Are they still available to buy ? That's another niggle with mine !

Glad you are happy with the work. She should be set for a good few years now... Question though.... Did you wait 8 yrs between belt changes ? Or had one in between ?

No I definitely didn’t go 8 years between cambelt changes. I have the cambelt done every 4 years. As the 4 years always comes up first instead of the 40000 miles.
Did not go to Audi 4 years ago. The guy that sold me the car 12 years ago owns a service/repairs garage. He did it for me 4 years ago. He used to maintain the car himself. Except for oil changes as he wanted the Audi stamp in the service book.

The locks and ccm module were purchased from Steve green. Got them eventually.
The ccm module was re sold to Matty as he was in need of one.
After my 4 door locks were replaced yesterday.
I have just run a auto scan and cleared the won’t safe and won’t de safe logged faults.
Now a waiting game to see if anything comes back.

As previously stated my lights left on warning buzzer is back to working.
As is the drivers door red light when the door is open
Both of these had failed presumably due to drivers door lock micro switches
The door locks and ccm were bought on the basis that they were all fully functional. So far so good. Will rescan in a couple of days. Fingers crossed.

Not quite there yet !
Still some central locking issues to sort out
And a couple of others.

No faults logged for the front doors though
That’s a huge bonus.
Used to also get won’t safe and won’t desafe errors on the front doors.

Onwards and upwards.

You know these cars are just meant to have a couple of faults right ? They are never meant to be fully clear ! :D

Even I’m not maniac enough to attempt to get 100% DTC free. :)

Mark-RS. Lol
Shoppinit. Lol in gusto.
MattyVRS6 pleased all is well.

Yes I know I need my head testing.
In fact I had it tested a week ago with mri and a radioactive (pet) ct scan.
I was told it was normal. But my wife insisted on a second opinion.
I call it obsessive compulsive disorder or in short a hobby.
Which is normal isn’t it ?
What else am I going to do on a Sunday afternoon or a bank holiday weekend.

If it ain’t broke “then fix it”
If it is broke “fix that and everything associated with it”
That’s what I would call normal behaviour ????????

Or is it my warped sense of humour.
