New tyres...

Post by DuncS3 » Sun May 18, 2003 7:27 pm

Hi,

I need to replace my tyres in the next month or so, on which I have done about 13000 miles. Question is that I had a tyre replaced no more than 2500 miles ago, which has a lot of miles left in it.

I was hoping to try a different brand of tyre come renewal time, but now I am thinking should I just get three new tyres of the same make, or even get four new tyres (of the same make) and keep the newesh one as a spare? If I go for something different then I am basically throwing out a decent tyre. I have Pirellis P Zero rosso's, which are okay, but as I say I wanted to try F1s, but tyres at 130 a corner aint cheap...

Personally I favor getting 4 new P Zeros and keeping one as a spare...

Im running the standard ones though and none of these rosso corsa thinggies!

I did that with the red one... (lasted nearly 18k)

had a punture ... replaced the tyre and then in 4K miles had to replace the other 3...

in the end.. i replaced all four, with same tyre (Mitchelin Pilot Sports)and kept the 4k mile old one in garage for spare....

New S3 has Mitchelin Pilots again, so i still have a useful spare...

mine were £165 each fitted inc vat

In my youth, i'd have put a post up saying what a load of bollocks. However, the tamer/milder side of me says that I've been doing a hell of a lot of datalogging this past 2 weeks on my car, each run taking the rev limiter past the standard m'fr specs and after the end of each session, still no error codes showing up. So, either the modified code erases them or they're hidden away somewhere I can't see.
M3 CSL - Silver Grey, a few options.

Personally i think there is no error code for the breach of the rev limit.

Has it been proven?

Scott from AmD mentioned something at GTi about 'Max Revs Exceeded' and that it can be erased.. so you need the 1551/2 then ?
