Did anyone see .....

Post by Nige_RS4 » Wed May 14, 2003 11:38 am

the programme on Sky over the weekend documenting the fastest road-legal cars in the UK (0-60mph)? Excellent result for Audi, with a UR Quattro beating everything in sight(including a drag car, a twin-VR6 turboed golf, caterhams, TVR's, a honda S2000 )

And the best time ..... 3.12 secs to 60 mph - FECK, that rocks

I believe the twin engined VR6 Golf did a 2.9s 0-60 at GTI last weekend.

Even though these cars are 'road legal'. Are they in fact being driven on a daily basis to and fro, ie, in city traffic etc. Or have these just been made for the strip and have the minimum requirements to fall into the 'road legal' bracket.

Yeah, most of them were 'trailered in', one of them was a fully blown drag/funny car - couldn't get the power down on the dusty strip they were using. Having said that, the Honda S2000 was bog std and did a mighty impressive 5.5 secs

Paul, was it an 'offical' time or the drag strip computer. Not sure, but I think you need timing equipment on the car to get the most accurate results ????? 10ths of a second count at this level of competition.

It was the drag strip timing. I agree about the onboard electronics.
I was just commenting on the speed tenth of a second either way - it's still bloody quick
