Tyre Pressure Warning Reset
Tyre Pressure Warning Reset
Hi All
I have a tyre pressure warning. I've set them to 38 psi on all corners as per the door Sticker and told it to store the pressures but it won't go away. I've done this with the ignition on and the car in park (and handbrake on) and with the engine running (still in park with the handbrake on). It asks me to confirm the pressures are correct and then takes a few seconds but I still have warnings. Is there anything else I should be doing? I've tried various pressures up to 42psi but always the same result.

IIRC (and it's been a while) rather than "storing" the new pressure I think you have to select reset/relearn or words to that effect (can't remember the exact phrase) so it has to relearn each of the sensors and it's best to do it whilst driving.

Re: Tyre Pressure Warning Reset
Thanks Ian. The only options I have are to view pressures, store pressures and to re-synch after changing the sensors (Can't remember the exact wording).
Also, I'll note that the sensors work absolutely fine for both pressure and temps. I just can't get it to reset the damn warnings.

Re: Tyre Pressure Warning Reset
It was "resync" (I was close though
) and it's about 10 seconds to do once you are driving. No idea why Audi designed it so that storing new pressures doesn't get rid of the warning, I think it maybe because in electronic terms the warning coming on is a "trip once" event, like a CB tripping, so even if the pressure increases back to normal you still need to "reset the CB" (in simplistic terms) to get rid of the warning and thats done with the Resync.

Re: Tyre Pressure Warning Reset
To be picky, it's 'Initialise'.
I think.
I think.
Re: Tyre Pressure Warning Reset
LOL, just spent 25mins looking for an MMi picture showing the version we have so I could find out what that "reset/relearn/resync" setting was called - gotta love lock-down

Re: Tyre Pressure Warning Reset
Awesome, thanks. I'll give that a go on my next weekly adventure outside my property to the supermarket.
Another thought, Audi specify the pressures at "cold". Anyone know what that temp is? There's a couple PSI difference between 10 degrees and 18

Re: Tyre Pressure Warning Reset
I always took "Cold" to be "before driving" rather than as a specific temperature range. You'd really only want to check the 'base pressure' at ambient temperature if checking for a low pressure, rather than the 'heated up and increased after a drive' pressure as that would give give a falsely high reading, for example a 38psi ambient can increase as high as 50psi after a very spirited drive (as I did, on the track where I went from 38psi to 51psi before checking only after noticing that the "feel" was off
.)
So for me I find that 38psi at ambient temps with Michelin MPSS or MPS4S for everyday driving is a nice pressure and you'll only see a few degrees increase which is perfectly OK. Again from my experience it's only if you decide to drive hard or go on the track that you really need to pay more attention to the pressures as you drive.

Re: Tyre Pressure Warning Reset
Okay cool, thanks. I'll try re-initialise the sensors later this week.
Getting the pressures even is a bit of a pig, since one side of the car is getting sun and the other isn't. So I have to do them in the evening as there can be a 15 degree difference between the right and left hand sides.

Re-initialising the sensors worked! Thanks for your help.
