Morning All...
A quick question if I may...
A recent 20,000 mile service at the main dealer highlighted the brake discs are worn but the pads are only down by 30%. 16,000 of those have been motorway miles so only gentle brake use and, historically, I always understood brake pads to wear out before discs so I am wondering if this is usual on the RS6 ?
Thanks in advance...

Re: Discs and Pads...
Standard dealer attempt to extract money from you - they may be right but they may not. Not something to leave to chance so get them checked by a good independent. Many have a skimming service as new discs ain’t cheap. My discs did 78k - at 20k it’s highly unlikely you need new ones
Re: Discs and Pads...
Thanks - that was my thinking... or that they maybe used the wrong pads in the first place. I will get an alternative opinion when I have my winter tyres fitted hopefully in the next week or so. Weird thoughgalaxie500 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2019 11:13 pmStandard dealer attempt to extract money from you - they may be right but they may not. Were the pads previously changed but still on original discs?Scotty C wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2019 12:04 pmMorning All...

Re: Discs and Pads...
The discs do wear unusually quick on these cars but shouldn't be that quick. I'd expect to replace the discs at the same time as the second set of pads are replaced i.e. when the 3rd set get fitted. However, others replaced them eveytime they changed pads. I think I was advised that they would need changing at about the same time but I measured them myself and found they were only half way worn, perhaps just a touch over half way so possibly needing to change the discs just before the second set of pads would wear out.Scotty C wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 8:14 pmMikeFish wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 7:34 pmWere the pads previously changed but still on original discs?Scotty C wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2019 12:04 pmMorning All...
