Pirelli P Zero

I know most of you don’t rate the P Zero for grip. But has anyone else had their P Zero decide to do this?
Happened just before I got to the EuroTunnel on me way to DisneyLand Paris Just a little annoying!

I know they were getting a little low on tread but I still had some wear left!

I went through 2 sets of Super Sport on my previous car, once the oem tires on my RS4 are smoke I will replace them with the new 4s.
P Zero no thanks.

Yep my Pzero’s wore the same way.

My cars are generally lowered so front camber is out and therefore the innder edges wear quickly but I have never seen then wear in that way. Looks more like a split than being worn through bad alignment.

That looks like the tread delaminating. Usually caused by running the tyres under inflated at high speed and/or hard cornering and so generating way too much heat. However, to do that on a road tyre, I suspect it would have to be almost flat. Any ideas what pressures you're running? Oh, and thanks for reminding me why I'll never have P Zeros.

2.4 Bar, TBH I have never checked to see if that was the correct pressure for the car. It was what was in them when I got the car. Little naughty of me.
I’m sure someone will tell me now if I was running the wrong pressure.
Definitely no hard corner from me. I drive very civilised now.
I had been cruising for 2 and half hours at roughly the speed limit. Stopped at the services. Set back off and pop!
Low tyre pressure!
I’ll be checking me pressures are correct before I set back off home!

Sounds low - I think it's 2.7 or 2.8 Barg recommended. (Too wet out to go and check!)

Yup, confusing picture to me as you'd expect the section title to be above the table but in this case it's below...

So you should be running between 3.0 and 3.4 on the front and 2.8 and 3.5 on the rear.

I still doubt though that even at 2.4 you could generate enough heat to do that damage so I'll put it down to crap manufacture. The last car I had P-Zeros on was a Jag XJ and I gave up with them after 8 consecutive out of round tyres were delivered. I can't now remember what it was, but it was explained to me at the time that Pirelli use an entirely different manufacturing process which makes it much more difficult for them to get perfectly round tyres. Sounds kinda stupid to me but there you go.

So my tyre pressures were bang on! Went out to the car today to check what the Sticker on the door says.
Picture I posted last night was off the net.
What pressure does your Sticker say?
The picture I posted last night looks like it’s a performance pack car with them wheels? Surely the cars shouldn’t have such a difference in pressures?
Seems strange? What are your thoughts?

Your Sticker is exactly the same as mine. My car is a 2014 non performance.

I must admit the difference is confusing, but it's what it is.

Anyway, at least you know under inflation wasn't the cause of your tyre problem. Looks like just poor manufacture.

Only 35 psi for 30 profile 21 inch wheels? Blimey, that's low!

Maybe Audi dropped the recommended pressures (on later build date cars) to try and decrease 21" wheel breakages? Will munch through tyres faster though!

Lower pressure was for the older cars. Mine is a 2014 and has the lower pressure Sticker

This looks familiar...
My P zero is exactly the same, rest of tyre has good wear, edges are coming apart. I have a set of PSS waiting for me this week.
I have had PSS on my B8 RS4 and the turn in and balance on that car was amazing. The 6 is an understeer disaster (all geo's checked and re-checked). I'm hoping that the the PSS will re-coup some lost ground as I'm no fan of these PZ. Audi tells me they are OEM recommended for my car :-/

I will check the pressures though - as wear on the edge and not on in the middle sounds like under pressure to me.

Just as a side note - on full lock do your front wheels 'hop''?
as if the suspension kinematics are all wrong for the wheels... (geo oem stock check 3x now.)
From my experience I've seen this only on cars with oversized wheels.
