Anyone tried 295 tyres?
Hi all,
Im getting wheel spin on my crap Pirelli's on launch and want to upgrade to Michelin's, but wondered if anyone tried the 295's as opposed to the standard 285's which will give a bit more rubber on the ground and grip. I have 15mm spacers and also lowered so worried they may rub. My mechanic says the standard tyres look a bit stretched and would likely settle better with 295's but wondered if there was any experience out there?

Re: Anyone tried 295 tyres?
Wasn’t there an issue with rolling circumference, ie it was a few % out?

Switching to Michelin PSS on 285s will be an improvement over the Pirellis. Not sure how much improvement the 295 part alone will give but the added benefit of 295s is that you can use the better Michelin PS4S.
Re: Anyone tried 295 tyres?
No experience, but interested to see how you get on as I want to switch onto Mich PS4S - had them on my C5 beast and they were fantastic!
I was reckoning on just putting on 5mm spacers to ensure nothing rubbed on the inside. Anyone know if the hub is deep enough for 5mm to be OK without going hub-centric??

Re: Anyone tried 295 tyres?
I'd be surprised if there wasn't 5mm clearance on the inside edge.
Re: Anyone tried 295 tyres?
You would have been amazed on the old C5 then!! We all had to grind off "Ol Knobbly" - a strange and utterly useless protrusion in the casting to make room even for alternative standard tyres, and certainly needed for anything wider than specified.I'd be surprised if there wasn't 5mm clearance on the inside edge.

I haven't yet had time/inclination with the new beast to take off a wheel and see what's likely to rub - and whether the hub is deep enough to take a 5mm spacer and still leave the wheel properly seated.
If anyone knows, do please tell us!!
Re: Anyone tried 295 tyres?
I know of the issue with the C5 but I've never heard of any issues with wider wheels or tyres on a C7 yet.
