Rs4 b9 issue
Rs4 b9 issue
Hi,
I have an Rs4 b9 with 1500 miles. Yesterday for the second time I experienced the following:
When travelling in the motorway in high gear between 2000 and 3000 rpm constant speed (with or without the speed limiter) the car every 20-30 seconds loses speed for a couple of seconds). It is barely noticeable but you can feel it. As a proof when setting the speed limiter, say at 80 mil/hr and watching the instant fuel consumpion indicator, you can see that when that happpens the ecu compensates the decrease in power with some more power. That happened twice after many min les after start. I still haven’t checked with Audi dealer.
Does anybody has had similar experience?
Thank you very much for you answer,
Andrew

Re: Rs4 b9 issue
I’ve not had this either, and I’ve done quite a bit of driving up and down a new stretch of motorway at around 120km/h both with and without cruise control. It’s smooth as a baby’s bum so I’d definitely notice if there were little blips like you’re experiencing. You say it happens with our without cruise control on, so it’s not the adaptive cruise kicking in then (I recently discovered the adaptive cruise won’t let you go past traffic if you are on the outside (slow) lane and some moron is sitting in the fast lane). Back to the dealer I say. Sounds like an electronic gremlin of some kind.

Re: Rs4 b9 issue
Will do hoping in a easy solution. I’ve read in some forums problems with the torque converter, but signs seem to be slightly different. Will keep you posted
Re: Rs4 b9 issue
Is it the fuel saving coast function?
Re: Rs4 b9 issue
It doesn’t sound like, as this function operates when removing power (decelerating) and not at constant throttle.
Re: Rs4 b9 issue
Isn’t coast the disengagement of the gearbox to save fuel ? Sorry maybe I got it wrong
Re: Rs4 b9 issue
Does this engine have the cylinder on demand function?

Re: Rs4 b9 issue
I don't get that on mine, and its 3.5k miles in
Saying that, it's pretty rare I sit at 80mph

Re: Rs4 b9 issue
Strange. What do you mean by losing speed?
Do you keep the throttle in the same position and it then drops in speed?
If so I never noticed this in mine if that helps. I have almost 5k km now.

As if it was a misfire for one or two seconds, barely noticeable but you can feel it.
