What after market discs should i go for as i'm about to replace front and rear any time now.
And don't want the wavey factory crap as they don't last 5 minutes

5 mins seem the norm on other threads i thought i had a good set to those people. just needing new ones and asked what other options are out there.
wow thats a good dealMarkp wrote: ↑Sat Mar 31, 2018 9:46 amJust be careful if you go after market. You might end up being worse off. Perhaps better the devil you know....
Also hunt around for prices. Some parts depts will give big discounts. Audi Stoke and Crewe often v competitive on eBay. I bought a full set of discs, pads and sensors for £1195 from Stoke (albeit a couple of years ago).
The OEM discs arnt vented correctly, VAG in their quest to save money use the same casting for the internal venting of the drivers and passengers front discs meaning only the passengers disc clears the hot air effectively. The drivers side disc (with prolonged hard use) overheats and warps creating the dreaded disc judder felt by a number RS owners on this forum (including myself).
OE discs are vented correctly. It doesn't matter which way you mount them - they vent effectively if rotating forwards or backwards. And my dealer said it was near side discs that give trouble - something they blame on road debris and going through puddles etc (rightly or wrongly). And they are the discs supposedly put on the right way?? I think it's a red herring.shanek wrote: ↑Wed May 16, 2018 11:17 pmThe OEM discs arnt vented correctly, VAG in their quest to save money use the same casting for the internal venting of the drivers and passengers front discs meaning only the passengers disc clears the hot air effectively. I replaced the OEM front discs with Vagbremtechnic 2 piece discs (an AP Racing disc mated to Vagbremtechnics bell). Now, both driver and passenger discs have the correct internal venting pattern to allow the discs to be cooled correctly during use with almost no chance of disc warping.

Vagbremtechnic are currently running a 10% discount event until the end of May should anyone be interested.
Combined the new discs with Ferodo DS2500 Pads to great effect, just waiting to get new brake fluid, braided lines and rear pads installed to get the full benefit.
