Performance vs. Standard RS6 Actual Differences?

Post by NME » Tue Mar 06, 2018 9:02 pm

Just curious, are there any actual mechanical differences in the engines?

i.e. is it just the map that separates them?

Also, I’ve heard the PE has the drive select button on the steering wheel. Is this akin to the * button the normal version has? And if so, can it be coded in VCDS to allow a standard RS6 to change drive select also?

I think it offers the power upgrade which is actually over boost plus front double glazing as standard. Different wheels. Not sure what else. I looked inside a really nice 67 plate one today and the dash looked the same as my 14 plate.

Double glazing was standard on FL my15.

The biggest difference is the engine mods -I believe the turbos are different and there is now an overboost function built-in.

I don’t think anything other than a map was done on the PE to get the extra power

Boost gauge goes red when booting it.

Blue stitching throughout Interior.

Exterior mirrors and trim etc titanium in Finish.

Very nice, that’s the info I was after.

I wonder how many of theses features are available in VCDS but not activated, like the boost gauge turning red, and I’d quite like the drive select without having to use the MMI.

Nice to hear that general opinion feels a map can even out the playing field on both versions as well,

Can’t argue with the wheels comments though, I do love them!

Take note of pain elsewhere with a map, if you’re bothered about a warranty.

Not keyless entry, it was still an option. I didn't spec it.

Ok my bad I thought it was. I’m sure the rest was all the difference was though.

I'm assuming the the Drive Select button is more intelligent than simply a button and send a code along the data bus as there was a Shop offering the conversion and it was hardware related it I'm sure.
