Hi
My dealer told me that my car is carbon + ceramic brakes.
But i was looking to buy on ebay some pad brakes and the seller told me that mine is iron and the rotor is ceramic?
Anyone can check for me?

Re: What kind of pad brakes?
He's almost right but not quite. The OEM Ceramic Audi pad isn't purely ceramic as they're made of a mixed compound in the same way as "normal" pads for steel discs are. Although you should use a specific "for ceramic discs" pad in most cases, there are *some* pads (Pagid RS29) which can be used on both steel and ceramic discs.
So even though the OEM pad is "for" ceramics is actually not made of ceramic material. Post up the eBay link and we'll have a look just to confirm whether you can buy them.
Also, here's a bit of blurb from Surface Transforms (who made ceramic discs) about brake pads for ceramic discs -
_________________________________________________________________________
Ceramic brake systems in automotive applications do not generally use brake pads made in ceramic material. A ceramic brake pad is too harsh and produces excessive wear, so in fact brake pads used with ceramic brake discs are made from organic compounds similar to those used with traditional iron brake discs.
However, as the frictional and thermal properties of iron and ceramic discs are significantly different it is important to use a brake pad compound that has been specifically developed for ceramic brake discs such as the Pagid RSC1.
Some high performance brake pads, designed for extreme track use, such as the Pagid RS29 can be used with both iron and ceramic discs.

Re: What kind of pad brakes?
I dont know what yo do anymore. I trade 3 times my front pad brakes (some with 1k miles) because of the noise. A sharp noise...
What can i do? The dealer does not give me a good answer for that.
