Howdy all,
I am being pulled back to Audi, after buying a range rover and have a hankering for a RS6. I was going to go the c6 route. to about 30k value. However have now seen a few 50 - 55k C7's knocking about.
A little googling suggest different beasts as expected, some people say you cant beat what they did with a v10 TT, but i am open ears.
Hp figures not to much different, but the interior etc is huge, its a modern car vs a dated car really.
Anybody had both, care to share? or anybody have any input, it will be my day to day car circa 15-20k miles a year.
Dont mind 20 mpg, love noise, and like toys
Cheers
Ross

Re: C6 Rs6 or this?
V10 lovely engine but chassis feels wooden and leaden compared to C7. And the C7 engine is pretty special too.
Re: C6 Rs6 or this?
rtd and wrekka both had C6 before their C7s I think.
Re: C6 Rs6 or this?
Yep I had tuned c6 rs6 before the c7.
C6 engine is immense but then everything else is not so great. Engine sound-I spent a fortune experimenting with different exhausts trying to get one that sounded good without drone. Handling was like a barge. Braking (on steels) was just about ok. Then it just started to feel old to me, then there are the leaking oil seals etc.
C7 is just much more modern, handles pretty good, engine is great (super sound with upgraded exhaust) nice gearbox.
Borrow the extra money for a c7, will be worth it. Again all my own opinion for what it's worth

Re: C6 Rs6 or this?
I had my C6 for 1 week short of a year and did 23k in it. Fitted MTM sports springs, ceramics, custom exhaust by demand engineering, and some other bits and bobs.
Car had a pretty good spec too - solar roof, keyless go, advance parking, adaptive cruise etc.
In my opinion that V10 is truly one of the greats immense power right across the rev range and so characterful - the exhaust nailed it for me - initially I did think what have I done because it just seemed loud but over time it seemed to bed down and eventually it was just music to my ears. Most people would describe the sound like a jet engine!
Handling was so, so and I didn't really expect anything else but the springs and then having the car setup by Chris at centre gravity made the world of difference - more composure and confidence inspiring grip. But it was no M5 etc.
When I changed into the ceramics from the factory steels the difference was night and day - one of the best mods I did. if I was keeping the C7 longer than I am planning I would get ceramics for it. Best brake setup for a performance road car.
I liked the fact that i could get in and use all the controls without having to read the handbook like modern cars. Yes be nice to have some more up to date tech but in the end for all it's foibles the engine, sound and that power more than made up for it. And I miss it every single day.
C7, is just perfect really great cabin, brilliant tech, build quality, looks, gearbox - but I don't feel part of the car like I did with the C6.
C7, is like 'sit down sir and let me take care of things for you' it's a proper point and squirt car. A digital car whereas the C6 was analogue - CD v vinyl?
My C7 is on air and the ride is sumptuous the C6 was teething shattering at times but you know what I loved that element of it you felt like you were on the edge.
When I've sorted a few things out I'm going to get another.
ps. From 90 onwards the C6 felt quicker than the C7 - C7 feels like it's running out of steam from 130 onwards where the C6 was just getting going.

Re: C6 Rs6 or this?
Thanks guys, I had a C6 for about 6 months in 2014, i loved it but at the time it was a lot of money in a car. Times have changed a bit for me and I can afford the outlay and fuel
I do like the C6, there's something about the steped arches etc but also as above i found the noise lacking so thats certainly a place that would need some ££ spent
I am also wondering on depreciation a bit, my range rover has lost 2k in 4 months. I paid 28k for my 59 rs6 (from West london audi) in 2014, and in 2016 59 plates are still up at 28k lol.
The c7's are still on their way down, but the newer interior etc is something i am really looking at.
ho hum, will be a mind over heart situation at decision time
I also like that fact this part of the forum is buzzing, where as c6 is always quiet

Re: C6 Rs6 or this?
What rtd said basically.
Loved my C6 however feels old compared with C7.
Plus the age of the C6 now loads starting to leak, rot and cost a fortune to maintain.
