Must have or have not options for an early build week!

Hi Everyone,

First of all what a great forum which will make the long wait for my car to arrive a little more bearable!

I placed an order for an RS6 PE a couple of weeks ago and was amazed at the lead time as I was told it would be built in week 21! I was surprised at the lead time as all the other Audi’s I have had in the past have been around 12 weeks…even my S5 which was written off in transit to the dealer was replaced and delivered within 16 weeks from order of the original car!

Luckily the dealer had a spec changeable car already on order which I have taken over which had a week 7 build which is better but this car was ordered mid july so that will be over 35 weeks between order and delivery. Unfortunately though when I changed the spec to what I wanted the build week slipped to 11! I don’t have the original spec to hand I don’t know what changes I made caused the build date to slip.

My spec is nothing too out of the ordinary: Daytona grey, Black styling, 21” black 5 spoke wheels, Sunroof, Leather, Advanced parking, smart phone connection.

I was interested to hear how spec changes others have made to their cars have affected build dates and maybe is there a specific item if added brings things forward or worse pushes it back?

I think it varies. My alcantara headlining pushed mine 2 weeks back but it is exclusive

I'd say it was the pan roof that pushed the order back. Everything else would have been off the shelf.
