Potential new owner

Post by Babw » Thu Sep 01, 2016 7:26 pm

Evening guys,

Hoping to get some advice over a potential purchase. I'm in the process of negotiating a deal for a 2014 RS6 with 20k miles on the clock. This particular car has caught my eye due to the spec that I was specifically looking for however the car is at a South East main dealer and I'm based in West Wales so I would be purchasing blind. Not the first time I've had to do this and it's worked out previously so I'm optimistic.

Is there anything specific I should look for on this particular model year and/or mileage? Any known faults?

Appreciate the input.

A 2014 car will still be under warranty so not too much to worry about. Check it has been serviced properly. Then it comes down to what sort of condition it is in in relation to the money you will be paying.
I can't think of any faults on these other than noisy brakes some people get. Some people also complain they get through them quickly and they are not the price of Fiesta discs and pads so worth checking if you will soon need new discs and pads (seem to recall people changing them at about 20k miles).
Also, check tyre conidtion. There was something else that popped into my mind while I was typing that, but I've forgotten it again.

Brakes and tyres are the only thing that I could come up with. It's running on Continentals and I'll check if the brakes have been done. Out of interest how much would a set of brakes set me back?

As you said it is still within the warranty period so anything catastrophic should be covered.

crash damage & HPI but I assume if from a main dealer they would have checked this already but doesn't hurt.

Ask them to make you a video to look over the condition. I know the dealers in Manchester do this.

That's a very kind offer and I may take you up on that offer if I can agree with the dealer on the price.

It's based at Maidstone Audi.

Couldn't get the dealership to agree a price before I headed abroad on holiday and the car was sold on Friday. If anyone knows of a car with th following options -

Head up display
Pan roof
Adaptive cruise
Dynamic pack
Less than 25k miles
Less than £60k

Please let me know otherwise I might have to let the missus get her way and buy a Cayenne Turbo. :(
