Pre sense basic

Post by bedlamater » Mon Mar 21, 2016 1:10 pm

Hey guys

Just finishing off the spec and wondering if anyone has any experience of the Audi pre sense basic system? It seems like it should be a standard option really, but thinking of ticking the box... The advanced version without all the other crazy options in the pack would be good, but the pack is very pricey..

Cheers

TBH I took out the advanced pack with pre sense plus, ACC and lane assist and was unsure if I'd use them and now I have them I'm glad I spec'd them, really useful especially the warning system in the wing mirrors.
IMO I think it's worth going for the advanced pack.

Pre-sense basic just prepares your car, and thus you, at the last moment for the impact, so I hope I never get to experience the operation of Pre-sense Basic. One of the silent but valuable features of the Assistance pack is the upgrade to Pre-sense Plus, which can actively prevent a collision. - It has kicked in for me a couple of times, albeit unnecessarily, in my opinion (I had it all under control, Officer).
With those matrix lights costing about £6000 to replace I can do without a front-end prang on my insurance, so Pre-sense Plus is worth the spend in my book. Even if it's a small shunt, getting the ACC sensors re-focused is a time-consuming and expensive business, so anything that keeps the front-end straight has to be good.

I had it on the B8. And it was brilliant, hence why I have paid for it on the C7 - which I have heard is even more accurate.

It even has a light flash to tell you that you are officially "dick-head" close to the car in front, which makes you sit back and think - do I want to look like a dick head..... or sit back and await the gap. Obviously a good thing for fellow Audi owners.

It's a big red car symbol on the DIS when you get too close to the car infront. They should add a little graphic showing your front bumper getting stone chipped too, that might make you drop back a bit more effectively.

Laughing Mike!!

Yeah when you read the book they actually say that the flashing red indication is actually a sign that the car is telling you, if you had to brake to avoid the car infront you are officially too close and the car no matter what would be involved in an accident.
