Nice suprise features?

Post by MikeFish » Fri Mar 18, 2016 10:25 am

With the B7 it continually surprised me with little features over the years that I had previously been unaware of.

The C7 is no different. Nice features I didn't previously know about so far have been:

Refrigerated glovebox. There's a little switch at the back of the glovebox which will turn it cold when the air con is on to keep your cold drinks / ice creams etc cold (I'm kidding, I wouldn't leave ice cream in the glovebox).

There is a load retaining net behind the back seats. I only found that out when I removed the load cover foer the first time. Not only that, but I just discovered yesterday that if you fold down the rear seats you can click the cover onto the folded down seats and clip it onto the roof to stil protect anything flying forward.

The load cover is electric and automatically retracts when the tailgate is opened and the covers the load area again when you close the tailgate.

The stereo on MY16 cars plays FLAC files. I didn't know this when I ordered the car but was a lovely surprise when I started researching the different speaker / amp options. This is a feature I've wanted from car stereos for years and even my £1200 top of the range Alpine couldn't do it (the new replacement for it can though).

Is there any nice feature you've found out about?

When I had mine. I didn't know that if you have the lap time on the DIS. Then stick the it in Manual shift via pushing the gear stick over you then get shifter lights on the Dis.

Other than the points raised above, I like the way that the rear seats fold down by themselves on pulling the lever. Plus the rather enticing exterior lighting on unlocking that car (FL version).

Non-physical "features" that I like (that were a surprise to me at least):-

(1) the fact that when on dual carriageways / motorways, 90% of cars seem to pull over on seeing you in the rearview mirror (rising to 95% when approaching at speed).

(2) the stares it gets, especially starting the damn thing up. Filling up at petrol stations - regularly as we all know - seems to be a particularly focal point.

I agree. Points 1 and 2 I'm used to from the RS4 as that had an aggressive look in the rear view mirror.

found the glasses drop box thing near the rear view mirror......

so love the Sepang - parked in the sun yesterday outside the house (as opposed to the garage) and wow it looked fantastic made a sunny spring day in Sussex look like the Bahamas !

matrix lights work great - never had anything so fancy in the light dept.

Yes Matrix lights are amazing and work so well.

And yes the Pearl paints look great in the sun. At the Midlands meet yesterday my car went from looking black when it was overcast to having a purple flick when the sun came out.

Don't pretent it was a surprise, you paid extra for the reach around.

True but its not big enough for a couple of bottles of (choose product) Red Bull/Champagne/Newcastle Brown/Tennants/Vodka/MountainDew. I nearly returned the car as it was not fit for purpose :drink:
