Hi,

I'm hoping to get the RS6 on saturday, Doing a deal with my car for it.

Ive read as much as i can and spoke to a lad who has a C5 who gave me plenty really helpful advice.

The guy i'm getting it from has had it 6 months but says the gearbox has been done, lambdas done also amonst other things.

Anything else i should look for ?

I'm a spraypainter to trade so i know what to look for bodywork wise.

Whilst the engine is a focus (such as turbos) of attention check the suspension if DRC, definately get Vagcom onto it and check for error codes, there's a long list but that's just RS ownership. Any insurance by inspection such as RAC or warranty you can take, do it.

He's selling after six months, he's either a POW (prisoner of wife), scared, skint or has something to hide in regard to the car. When you drive these you never WANT rid of them there needs to be a reason.

check brake discs, £150+ each for the front
drive it yourself and see what the gearbox is like . DONT take someones word for it

Its does have H+R coilovers fitted....not sure what ones though.

I'll double check who done the gearbox when he gets back to me.

So true! I've had mine for nearly two years now and I have no intention of getting rid of it.

But they are certainly not the most sensible of cars to get. Everything costs a lot of money, in both parts and labour.

The help and advice given by some of the people on here is very helpful and can save a ew quid too.

It can put a big dent in your finances when things go wrong, but it will put a big smile on your face when it's running well

Get used to facing the sky every time you have someone in the back or something in the boot. I had them on mine but they lower the car too much and the springs do not seem up to the job of carrying any additional weight. Constantly rubbing the wheel arch liners.

Also raising the height raises the spring pre load, so the car runs higher but the ride is appalling as the springs bind.

Basically budget for replacement suspension in the near future. I replaced mine with standard springs and KONI shocks, what a difference!
