RennSport better make the next RS4 a good one

Time log: YESTERDAY

So, there I was at an iconic racetrack, for the day, for a "Festival of AMG"

Not a typical enterprise for an RS4 owner, but got the invite due to the missus having a reasonably new snazzy A Class

Had the privilege of driving not just one, but a number of different AMG products. And I can say that the new C63s has got the emotional side of the right foot loaded to the hilt. What an experience. Based on seat of pants it is definitely quicker than our RS4's and when doing back to back in an A45, which should be roughly same same acceleration as the RS4 then the A45 was "nice" and similar but nowhere near the C63s.

Also, the features available for playing, setting etc etc with the C63s were a step beyond what we're used to. For example, during the "hot laps" sessions the techs (read "mechanics" ) whilst using tyre gauges for adjusting/setting pressures also just read pressures from the central screen in the dash ... A pressure reading for each corner. Brilliant. And that was just one of the things we saw. There were many things we didn't get to play with.

So am I rushing out to order the new C63 in wagon form? No, we still had a thoroughly enjoyable 3 hour drive home over some "playtime" and gentle cruise roads, with my thinking I still picked the all round better car to suit what I want in a car, which is also my daily driver and does 40,000 kms per year. But ... More grunt would be nice. However, when the exhaust howls as you go through 6,000 RPKs onto 8,250 then it's kinda easier to forget that brutal rush and growl as the C63s launches and scrabbles for rear end traction as it shoves lunch through your backbone.

Bring on the B9. I'm still happy in my choice, but if I had the option (and therefore enough spare dosh) for an "occasional Sunday plaything" that still had to have the same inside space as the RS4 then the C63s would be an ideal garage mate.

As an aside - also a brilliant day at the track. :biggrin3:
