140miles in and......

Post by kieranp1 » Sat May 02, 2015 7:14 am

Picked the car up yesterday, what else can be said but wow it's better than I remember!!!!!!

I do have a couple of questions though;

1. How the hell do the matrix headlights work? I must be doing something wrong as every car flashed me last night??

2. Has anybody smelt burning oil??

Other than that :biggrin3:

Love that car!! Lol I've ordered the same colour and kept the standard wheels!! I think they look great.

The RS6 brochure does not do them any justice but in real life they are lovely wheels. Just Audi trying to get an aditional 2k out your wallet.

The big wheels make the car imo. First box to be ticked.

I wouldn't worry about the burning smell, its pretty normal on a new car, over spray and preps from production on the parts that get hot should burn off after a few good runs.

Regarding the matrix lights - are you placing them on full beam and expecting them to dip ?

I am waiting for my car so I am not sure on A6/RS6 behaviour, but I expect that if is similar to high-beam assist on other models, then you need to set the lights to Auto on the lights dial, and set it to on with one click away from you on the light stalk. This will not put the full beams on immediately but you will see a little light symbol with an A in it appear in the dash. The lights should then 'dip' automatically.

So took the car back this morning as the burning oil smell was getting intolerable. Had it on the ramp and checked. There was quite a bit of oil residue around the filter. It's been cleaned and hopefully any that is left will burn away.

The smell was quite off putting, I've had the very same smell arrive as a result of 3 engines letting go in my old P1. I don't want to be there again :boohoo: . But as always impeccable service from the dealer I have used for all the servicing and warranty work I have had carried out over the years :jump_clap: .

Taking pics seemed like the sensible thing to do when it was on the ramps, enjoy.

Beautiful car!! Did you get to the bottom of the matrix lights issue you mentioned earlier?

Hi parmd, yep it was operator error, I'd not set the headlights to auto. :bash:

Kieran, this is my ever blog, couldn't resist.

Picked up my C7 about 4 weeks ago, Sprint blue, sports exhaust, black wheels etc etc. The matrix lights have to be set up on the computer to auto dip,as I understand it,which my dealer had done for me,although I have had the odd flash at night.

Oil--no smell of burning oil, although on my first longish trip to France, the warning light came up saying " reduce level of oil " !!!,so rang the dealer who suggested opening and closing the bonnet and hey presto the warning went.

Dealer suggested that don't go over 3000 revs for the 1st 3000 miles which I almost have done. I think I have read this before but in full dynamic mode do you find that the car does pull to the left under heavy acceleration, I have Dunlops on mine,do the tyres and make any difference. Before the C7 i had a RS4 B8 while waiting for my car,I thought this made a better noise on changing down. Does the exhaust note change on the C7 after it's more run in,what do others think ? Before the B8 I had a B7--was this the best car Audi ever made ?? It really was a wrench letting the B7 go. The C7 is of course a totally different car,it is mind numbingly fast and you have to have your wits about you all the time.V interesting reading the comments of others.

To use the matrix auto function I you have to push the head light stalk away from you. You will get a head light symbol on the dash with an A in the centre. The matrix LEDs will then work automatically.

I was pushing the headlight stalk away, I just hadn't switched the headlights to auto (sorry to all the drivers I dazzled).

I asked but was given no specifics on run-in details, just that it's an Audi!!! Even when in the workshop yesterday all the technicians were telling me to just use it!!! I have felt it wonder once under hard acceleration and it definitely wagged it's tail on another occasion.

dont exceed 3000 rpm interesting i didnt think that would be the case maybe take easy for first 500-1000 but that just sounds silly. Anybody else able to shed some light on this i do know nowdays most come pre run or so they say but nobody to really answer the question ?.

Well the manual says don't rag it for the first 1000 miles. 3000rpm max for 3000 miles, I don't think so, how the hell do you overtake anything? My simple rule is, first couple of hundred miles take it easy to bed the brakes etc in. After that just drive it but without ragging it until it's fully warmed up.

Think as soon as mine is warmed up it will be getting the old lead boot. Chances of waiting 10 weeks and not resitting a good old blast up the bypass! It's warranted for 3 years so any problems back to dealer. Old wife's tale nowadays about bedding in engine especially with new lubricants etc
