New look for my S4 - RS styling + Team Dynamics wheels

Post by jaygemson » Sun Mar 08, 2015 11:12 pm

This has been a long time coming, but it's finally here and I'm made up to be sharing my S4's new look with you lot!

Following a rear-end shunt in December the car had to visit a bodyshop so I took the opportunity to make a few cosmetic changes, including the RS4-style front bumper (thanks to Robokn for introducing this) and a genuine RS5 rear diffuser blended into the stock S4 bumper. The RS5 diffuser is not a direct fit, but a few others around the world have done it before me so I knew it was possible, and the bodyshop didn't have any trouble adapting it for the S4 bumper and blending it in at the corners. There's still some adjustments to make, and I may tone down the glaring silver trim, but I'm well pleased with the quality of the parts, the workmanship and the final result.

My new Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.3 wheels (19x8.5 ET35) finally arrived too, some 5 months since I placed the order  Several cock-ups at RimStock meant numerous delays, but it did mean that the new look came together in one hit and I can finally enjoy proper grip again with the Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I really didn't like the Team Dynamics centre caps though so I adapted the S4 5-arm centre caps to suit which adds a bit of stealth to the new setup.

Enough of the waffle, onto the pics:

Being a massive BTCC fan I've always had a love affair with these, and I think they look great on the S4:

It's a bold step away from the original subdued S-line styling, but the tuning potential of the B8 S4 was the real draw for me and now the looks are in keeping with it's performance. I'm pleased with the end result and finally now I'm finding myself stealing backwards glances when I walk away from it - mission accomplished :kissmyrings:

I was also pleasantly surprised by how light the new wheels are. The car drives really nicely on them with marked improvements in initial acceleration, braking and willingness to change direction compared with the stock 18" setup.

Big thanks to Allumy Motorsport for supplying the wheels (no discredit to them on the delays) and to Headley Bodyshop for the repairs and visual modifications. Can't speak highly enough of either of those organisations

Looking good, Jay... 8)

Let me know if you change your plans for the original 18" rims.

I've gone the opposite route on my project car (not an Audi...) - anti-fashion, last weekend I fitted the smallest diameter wheels I can squeeze over the brakes, dropping from 18s to 17s:

They're OZ Superturismo and reasonably light. I think they add to the stealth factor with this scruffy hack of a sleeper :sleeping_2:

so many new/modded S4 posts coming on the website these days.

Great to see a lot more action in this section, lets give those B7 RS4 boys a run for their money!

Great Car also, although I think I'm with you in terms of turning down the silver trim - just a bit....

Hey Al, cheers!

Sorry again about the wheels. I'll be sure to let you know if I decide I can be without them.

Love the Saab :) The OZ wheels look great on it :thumb:

Cheers Rob!

I know the parts are around £350 (minus the proper RS5 exhaust trims which around around £100 each IIRC) but I didn't see an itemised bill for the labour involved in fitting it to the S4 bumper as I had other stuff done at the same time, sorry. You'd have to have a word with Frazer at Headley Bodyshop for a quote.

Superb Jay! That's really come together as a well sorted package.
Can't imagine there's a whole lot (if anything) left on your to do list now, is there? ...other than thoroughly enjoying it, of course!

Cheers Nick :beerchug:

Not much left now, you're right! I have a few ideas up my sleeve, some are refinements (e.g. different suspension to bring the ADS back into play, adding an x-pipe to the Milltek system to change the sound and remove drone, etc) and some are for when I get bored with the current setup (I'm hankering after some more BBS wheels!). In the meantime though enjoying it is high on the agenda :s4addict:

Cheers!

There's a reason why it looks like an RS5 from the rear though...

I did indeed :thumb: The S4 went well.

Plenty of vids on the GoPro, I'll share them once I've got a moment to edit out the chaff.
