Following a rear-end shunt in December the car had to visit a bodyshop so I took the opportunity to make a few cosmetic changes, including the RS4-style front bumper (thanks to Robokn for introducing this) and a genuine RS5 rear diffuser blended into the stock S4 bumper. The RS5 diffuser is not a direct fit, but a few others around the world have done it before me so I knew it was possible, and the bodyshop didn't have any trouble adapting it for the S4 bumper and blending it in at the corners. There's still some adjustments to make, and I may tone down the glaring silver trim, but I'm well pleased with the quality of the parts, the workmanship and the final result.
My new Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.3 wheels (19x8.5 ET35) finally arrived too, some 5 months since I placed the order
Enough of the waffle, onto the pics:
Some detail shots of the bumper and diffuser:
Being a massive BTCC fan I've always had a love affair with these, and I think they look great on the S4:
It's a bold step away from the original subdued S-line styling, but the tuning potential of the B8 S4 was the real draw for me and now the looks are in keeping with it's performance. I'm pleased with the end result and finally now I'm finding myself stealing backwards glances when I walk away from it - mission accomplished
I was also pleasantly surprised by how light the new wheels are. The car drives really nicely on them with marked improvements in initial acceleration, braking and willingness to change direction compared with the stock 18" setup.
Big thanks to Allumy Motorsport for supplying the wheels (no discredit to them on the delays) and to Headley Bodyshop for the repairs and visual modifications. Can't speak highly enough of either of those organisations
