German Mag test

Post by Thorney » Tue Apr 22, 2003 7:29 pm

Posted from someone of VX BBS:

The german sports car enthusiasts mag "Sport Auto" is the number one german petrol-head publication. It has just published its track test of the Speedster Turbo in the May issue.

They test all the cars on the 2.6km long small course at Hockenheim. This should be of interest to several forum members who track or intend to track their car. As the average speed on this track is fairly low, handling is more important than power.

Here are some lap times of tests they have done:

Lamborghini Diablo GT 1.14.4min.
Porsche 911 Turbo 1.14.6min.
Lotus Exige 1.14.8min.
Maserati Spyder GT 1.16.9min.
BMW Z8 1.17.4min.
BMW M3 1.17.6min.
BMW Z4 3.0 SMG 1.18.1min.
Audi RS4 1.18.2min.
Honda S2000 1.18.9min.
Morgan Aero 8 1.18.9min.
Porsche Boxster 1.19.4min.
Subaru Impreza GT 1.19.4min.
VW Golf V6 4motion 1.22.9min.

and now it gets more interesting...

Lotus Elise 2 122bhp 1.18.9min.
Opel Speedster 1.19.2min.
Opel Speedster Turbo 1.17.1min.

Maximum speed on the start/finish straight:
Elise 161km/h
Speedster 164km/h
Speedster Turbo 172km/h

Maximum speed and G-force in the banked Sachs Curve:
Elise 86km/h 1.15g
Speedster 82km/h 1.15g
Speedster Turbo 84km/h 1.2g

Maximum braking at Ameisen Curve
Elise 9.2m/s2
Speedster 9.2m/s2
Speedster Turbo 10.2m/s2

RS4 does rather well I thought
