Capristo Fitted - Back to Back Rolling Road Results
Yesterday I had my Capristo installed, replacing the stock 'sports' exhaust system.
For pure interest (i don't care about the numbers, i'm happy with the car as it is) we ran the car on the dyno immediately before and after the exhaust was installed.
The car has approx 25,000 kilometers under its belt.
The initial dyno showed a stock peak bhp of 420.8bhp and 419Nm
The second dyno (with Capristo) showed a peak bhp of 432.2bhp and 431.4Nm, both being given nicely throughout the rev range.
I've attached the dyno printouts.
I don't have any videos yet, they will follow as soon as I can get them done, i'm travelling overseas now until early Feb.
p.s. The exhaust is awesome. In comfort mode it's definitely quieter than the stock sports system in dynamic, in dynamic mode (valves open) the noise is glorious, a really 'grown up' and classy V8 noise, and just the most amazing sounds on up and down shifts. Well worth every penny!

Welcome to my world.....

It's all torque talk.
Re: Capristo Fitted - Back to Back Rolling Road Results
420 standard? doubtful and 10 bhp on a catback??? hmmm skeptical looks cool and sounds great tho
Re: Capristo Fitted - Back to Back Rolling Road Results
Mine rolled 419 & then 432 last year, both results with the Cap on & no other works....
It's all torque talk.
Re: Capristo Fitted - Back to Back Rolling Road Results
Am I reading this right? The nice gain the Capristo has given translates to about 3bhp at the wheels. I understand they are bought for sound and am looking forward to hearing one in the flesh that's not on an R8 V10 to see if it worth the money.

I was skeptical that any of the capristo claimed 14bhp would be seen.Rick_RS4 wrote:420 standard? doubtful and 10 bhp on a catback??? hmmm skeptical looks cool and sounds great tho
But having seen the standard Audi sports exhaust when it came off the car, it was surprising to see how pipe work was flattened/crimped in certain sections of the design of Audis system.
So, on a visual comparison only I can see that there appears to be performance to be gained by installing a system with consistent bore profile.

Why is it there's a certain section of B7 owners who really do think they know it all when it comes to the 4.2 and tuning.
Has it not crossed your mind that some of the modern versions of the 4.2 could produce a good power output. Or do Audi just have a big rickety old wooden shed packed full of these engines from 2006 they've just been using up for nigh on 10 years without tweaking or development.
The B7 and B8 are two different cars, get over it.

Re: Capristo Fitted - Back to Back Rolling Road Results
I've owned both!! b7 for many years b8 has a lot more tech. But I'm afraid to say they both have a carbon problem, as much as it's a nice engine it's also poor as regards to loosing power over time
Re: Capristo Fitted - Back to Back Rolling Road Results
True, and I'd never debate that. My point is rather a newer RS4 won't by default be as bad as an older B7 so why should a person be doubted and berated for power gains?RIV wrote:I've owned both!! b7 for many years b8 has a lot more tech.
