The future in-laws are currently stuck in France near Gourdon with their two dogs and their old POS Ford Galaxy that has died a death. Unfortunately for me they have to come back and we have decided to buy them another car. However, I don't overly like so I am restricting the budget to no more than £1600. Buying a house too atm and I am really wanting to spoil Madam with the R8 she lusts after next year so even more reasons to not waste it
In the event that they do manage to find their way back from Frenchland once the Galaxy is patched up, they would happily have something the same size as the Galaxy again, but, they have expressed that a decent-sized estate could do the job too.
They want an Auto box, the ability to get lots of miles on a tank, and the possibility of a diesel but it needs to be reliable (not placing any bets on a reliable common rail diesel in my price range!). They don't have much money at all so repair costs have got to be as sensible as can be hoped for. If they weren't such rust buckets in that price range, I would stick them in a Merc E class in an instant.
Have looked at all the usual suspects but nothing has pulled my pecker yet. Ideally not starship miles either but hey, not asking for much am I....
