You sure you want one?

I spec'd it as it was a no-cost option but only use it for a few hours a year when cruising on the French autoroutes as it gets in the way of the gear lever so you can't change gear with it down (unless you're double jointed), and you can't get to the handbrake with it down either.

It's kinda useful for storing a few bits & bobs but I wouldn't bother to spec one again.

Other opinions may be available...

+1. This is a real pain in the ar*e.

I like the storage aspect, and the lazy arm resting, but aside form that it can cumbersome...

Look to get one of these too. The clips are notorious for snapping...

It's one of the reasons many modern cars get crossed off my "possibles" list.

+1

Given that Eddie Stobart specified every other possible option on that car it is quite telling that he left the armrest out!

I heard that it just gets in the way so really don't miss not having one.

Beside's, if you only have one hand on the wheel then the alcantara will only be bobbly on the right side......

I agree with you Dave, electronic handbrakes are totally unnecessary. Had an Astra hire car once and you had to have your foot on the brake pedal before the handbrake would release!!!! Certainly made hill starts interesting :bash:

+1 I miss one whenever I'm in other cars. There is knack to positioning though - a few notches up so you don't hit it with the handbrake when you park and stress the leather handle.

I agree though - stupid design. No one should have to learn how to use an armrest.

The B8 one isn't going to win any design awards either!

Erh!!! Paddle shift with no handbrake, plus it moves back and forward. Ie it works and it's comfortable, does it really need a design award :bigblink:
