Car went to MRC today

Post by pmj » Thu Nov 07, 2013 8:09 pm

I was hoping to share my good news. But. As usual for me things are not good with the car. Lowest standard power they have ever seen and after the stage two tune it's about 80 bhp down on what is should be. They are swapping the fuel in the car to see if that makes a difference. Plus there is a spurious error code to do with some "flaps". ( some throttle related). Putting all my faith in Doug getting it sorted

Good luck mate sure they will get it sorted. Perhaps that is another reason they didn't have time to answer the phone/email as stated in the other thread!!! :bash:

Well, Thursday was a bit of a nightmare with the standard( before tune) RR, outputs were down at 339ps and 460nm, there was an issues that to this point can not be identified, the stage two upgrade was installed and the car back on the rollers made a poor 441ps and 492nm, still down on what was the expected for a manual car, so after Doug called me we decided that the next step was to do the following : Vpower fuel was taken out of the car (didn't realise how much this cost) and a few litres of Tesco 99 ron were added, along with new plugs and a clean of the throttle bodies and intake valves, car was again put on the rollers Friday and the result we looking more like Doug was expecting to see, so after a very long drive to collect the car (Thanks to Doug for hanging on for me) I has a nervous (laughing) drive home thanks to the shoddy weather conditions. but as soon as it dries up I will be using everything I can of the 508ps and the 609nm it produces.

Now have to book the car in for a few weeks time to see if there has been any loss due to the initial problem that could not be found, so fingers crossed all is OK and that it is a straight forward run and all is tickety boo...

thanks to all at MRC as at one point I was ready to torch the car as I cannot be putting up with yet another bottomless cash pit of a car...but with a little faith in them (thanks to all forum members) it all appears to have come out pretty well// :jump:

And brakes!!!!! The S4 brakes are very spongey.

That power needs control and very good anchors.

Brakes are OK for the moment Will upgrade as soon as funds allow. Looking for a set up between the standard and the RS5 upgrade. Suspension is on the list as well.

Sainsts4000 soon realised he needed new brakes after he pushed his car quite hard. He upgraded to the RS 5 brakes however he did say it was quite expensive.
