What do you think of this S4?
On autotrader only showing a few pics but there is another add on eBay with more photos. I know it's pretty basic spec but looks clean and I have checked the history and looks good.

"Please note proof of insurance will be required prior to test drive" sounds like a home trader to me. No address and only a mobile number listed on their website - although to be fair it does mention warranty included
Paint work is very flat and needs a machine polish, blue sky day in the photos makes it easiest to see the swirls, that's exactly what mine was like when I bought it, machine polish sorted that out
Not sure what is going on with the centre caps, they often look worse in the pics than in real life, but those are miles out.
RNSE and 6CD glovebox changer - but no BOSE or cruise
Oh and no mention of history!

Went to see it today. The paint is as you said a little bit flat with minor scratches but not dents at all. Service history is all audi but long life. I told him it should be having a major service now, he said not according to the car. Mmm low mileage should be fixed not long life.
The car drove very nice indeed no knocks at all and ride was like a new car. Engine started well with no chain and any smoke. When I opened the oil cap I notice some dry yellow stuff but not the normal stuff you see when the head gasket has gone.
Good stuff - brakes are good, tyres too, interior is clean without any marks.gearbox was also fine without any issues. No oil leaks from anyware I could see.
Bad- needs a good polish, te major service, one rear light with condensation, ac not blowing much cold air, both headlights showing some evidence on very very light condensation and one of them must have a broken clip or needs a gentle press to but it back.
I liked the car but like I told him, top money for a basic car. I would find difficult to pay that money if only it had full leather, Bose then it would have been different.
I also went to see a red one in Bristol but te guys were a waste of time. The car looked ok until ou looked closer, all the front had been resprayed badly, loads of silicon marks on the panels.
Now I know what I really want on the s4. The search continues.

What was the 'garage' like - a proper outfit?
Strange the seller doesn't mention FASH in the advert - thats something to shout about! Longlife isn't too bad on a lower miler as long as its been serviced every two years. If its only done 10-15k over two years thats fine. Its the cars doing 20k between services that are the ones to worry about.
Were you specifically looking for an auto saloon?

The guy is a dealer but selling cars from home. He had a few cars for sell.
To be honest I really want an avant but when I was searching this one came up in my favourite colour and was happy to buy it if the car was right. What put me of was the missing full leather and the potential cost of replacing one or even two headlights also the odd residue on the oil cap. Apart from that the car was very nice, a bit over priced which would make it difficult to negotiate when it's due a major service!

Headlight condensation thankfully doesn't mean replacing - the seals on the back access caps are the cause I think

A few s4's have come up on the web over the last few nights. I hope one of them will fit the bill. Just need to decide if I stick to manual or go auto.
