MPG?

Post by ammwhite » Thu Apr 10, 2003 2:34 pm

What sort of mileage do you get from your S4?
When I first got the car, the computer showed 24.0 mpg, but that has been steadily going down and it's now around 22.3 mpg - I hope it's not going to fall much further!
cheers,
Andy (silver S4 Avant - completely standard!)

22-24 was the average from the DIS i used to get from my S$

The RS is worse, OK for normal driving, maybe up to 24, but in London goes down to 18-19

And on the track 6

Mine does 20mpg for short (5-10 mile) trips
On a run to work (35 miles) I get about 24mpg

If I nurse it at 70 on the motorway (which I don't) you can get 27mpg

At castle combe I got 11mpg.

On average I get between 230 and 260 miles per tank (60 litres)

....worth every penny though.
All of the above are when running Shell Optimax.

Averaging around 22/23 MPG.

Got 30 once when I was worried about running out of petrol!

I had a 70 mile run once and did 31.
I was trying though and coasted all the way down the hill on the M20 at Wrotham

My DIS averages 26 on a motorway (sensible speeds) and usually 20-21 overall. I have had it at 13-15 around town and 10.5 at Castle Combe
All the time with Optimax and Millers.

Clearly depends on the style and type of route. I have the long run to Manchester where I try to keep to sensible speeds and I can get 28MPG which I think is great for the power output. But it quickly drops when I get back home - loads of roundabouts and braking / accelerating as well as the school run takes its toll. I would say 19MPG is about the average

OK, looks like I'm not doing too badly then, given that my driving is mostly a mix of around town with the odd quick motorway/A road dash. BTW, I'm finding it very difficult to stay anywhere near the speed limit on the motorway - my speed is frequently creeping up to near 100

My car is unmodified and I get 24 running round, 30 on a gentle motorway run (I try to be sensible you know) and about 9 on trackdays.

Pretty good considering

Same as most 24.5 and 30 cruising.

Should emphasise shorts journeys kill the MPG.
