Glove box CD changer coding for RNS-E

Post by Parptoot » Sun May 19, 2013 7:01 am

Today I have removed a genuine iPod connection/box that went to the back of the RNS-E on my B7 RS4. This is so I can make use of the build in CD changer in the glove box.

What I need to know is - Does the RNS-E need recoding to see and control the CD changer?
It's all connected again and the CD changer powers up and the RNS-E sees 6 CDs on the screen now but does not recognise an inserted CD.

Is there something wrong with the changer or is it a coding issue due to the iPod thing being added at some point?

I find sometimes when I have six CDs loaded, sometimes the changer misses CDs, ie might skip from disc 1 to 3 as it doesn't 'see' 2. However it I eject 2 and put it straight back in, it always plays it. If you have 6 CDs showing on the RNSE screen I cannot imagine its a coding issue?

Thanks Ian, Graham ham chimed in over on ES-AR-ES with similar thoughts on coding, or the lack of it. I reckon the CD I managed to get in has stuck.
