B7 rs4 saloon non audi servicing

Post by Loub1 » Sat May 11, 2013 1:12 pm

Hello just wondering if any one can help me, been told not to buy an rs4 that hasn't been serviced by main dealer? Should this put me off buying the vehicle? Is the audi main dealer history important?? Thanks

hi, i just bought an rs4 too and it had full dealer history and i phoned the different dealers to verify it and check outstanding recalls (campaigns) as there has been a few issued on these. its down to gut feeling when buying but with a high end car it has to be done right and on time. most vag group cars use a special grade oil that another garage might not have put in(although unlikely). there are a few rs specialists out there though that know there stuff so would be happy if it had been serviced by them. it also affects resale value but again its gut feeling about the particular car your looking at. sorry to waffle on but hope this helps!

I had one in 2 weeks ago that had been inspected and serviced by audi 10 before i had a look at it ...

The the car required £3k of repairs that they had missed .. They hadn't even carried out a diagnostic on the car and had missed lots of rs4 typical faults ..

After having many 'unique' cars I can say this.
There are 'independent garages', 'dealers' and then there are 'specialists'.

I would always look more favourably on an owner taking their car to a specialist every time.

Not all independents are the same. I took my 07 B7 RS4 to a local garage which I've used for many years on my other cars. I was initially concerned about his knowledge of the car but he showed my the various tools and programmes on the computer that tell them everything they need to know about working on the car. Some discussion of oil followed and he bought in the appropriate VW 504.00 Castrol oil.

Way less than a stealership and at the end of the day it is just a car, albeit a more esoteric one.
