New RS6 Home ... (pic intensive)

Post by gdavison » Thu Apr 18, 2013 8:07 pm

Spent some time trying to work out where best to put "new garage build post" .. so elected on RS ownership .. As many forum members know I moved house about a year ago, live in the wilderness now with loads of trees around us and although the RS6 happily lived outside in Wokingham within days of moving realised it was getting hammered with tree sap, bird poo and pollen here at the new place.. So immediately went for car covers and kicked off "new garage build" project..

Back in Wokingham we had a single bay garage and a 2 bay garage .. Porsche lived in the single bay and the Brabus Smart and RS6 lived outside .. in the double garage we had 7 pinball machines .. since moving the pinballs are in storage ..

So New Plan .. 3 bay garage for RS6, Porsche and Smarty .. convert 2 bay we have at new house to a games room

View from top of drive to house as was (RS6 is hiding under car cover in front of house)
Image

plan is new garage goes here
Image

right in that mess of unloved trees
Image

Trees gone ... no going back
Image

Mud and stumps
Image

Digging out
Image

18 Grab lorrys each took 20 tons out
Image

completely bolloxed the old drive .. which was not that brill any way
Image

so new drive and turning circle needed
Image

Driveway looking better
Image

Oak frame going up .. al hand cut, hand chiselled
Image

Frame up .. cladding going on, no prebuilt trusses.. all hand cut and built on site
Image

Scaffolding going up for roofing
Image

Roof done
Image

first door on
Image

Finished pretty much .. pile of gravel left id for the path between old and new garage
Image

Done ......

Home .......

Humbled, impressed and a little bit jealous if I'm honest. Nice to see some proper old skool wooden building though :thumb: :thumb:

Yep, you've got money behind the sofa!

Well done for working for it, respect.

If you won it on the lottery - you bastard!!! ;-)

The garage is immence, beautiful place to go and escape, is it heated? If it is I'd be living in there!!

Very very nice :biggrin3: Impressed my friend. Glad to see those cars have a nice warm and dry home to live in now. I'm working on getting my RS and Brabus in new garage together but for the Leakster lives in there to keep it dry :bash:

Very nice, the garage really suits the house, nicely done as it's so easy to get wrong. Good to see the cars are safe - I have to store mine for the winter as my garage is a sports store as I live on a beach - salt water = not good for the RS4 :(

That's really awesome. Just curious but why didnt you just leave the roof open to eaves? Is that upper area accessible? for storage or something?

Are you writing up the games room conversion? That would be awesome

Upper area is currently a loft space which can be later converted to a reasonable sized room .. we have put double rafters in every so often which allows dormer windows to be simply post fitted and did not put in the collar ties for more head room (not needed any way)

Very Nice, I'd never be out of there if it was mine!!!

Is that a sit-on lawnmower behind the car? and have you had it on the dyno to see whats its making before you get it mapped? :jump:

Aye it is ... we need to find a 4 wheel drive dyno that can set its rollers 6 ft apart to test it :)
