1st Major service lottery.

Post by EddyPee » Tue Mar 19, 2013 3:05 pm

So, on the forum advice of many I decided to take the motor to Camberley for its major service under my ownership. Its still on original sparks, need brake fluid, air con the works so I thought based on the feedback on here they have to be worth the trip. Colbornes Basingstoke have never let me down but a lot of people seem to big up Camberley.

As I already knew the oil cooler pipes are leaking so that needs doing, pipes and cooler. They have managed to get me a 50% goodwill on the full RRP of £1480 so being done for £740 all in which I guess I cant complain about.

It also appears both front shocks are leaking and need doing, there is a leak in something to do with the Steering, the Airbox is hit and miss and there is some radio amplifier problem as well.

The cars under comprehensive extended warranty so they suggest that hopefully all of the above can be done under warranty which will have paid for itself assuming they agree this is all warranty work. Hoping so otherwise the bills going to be savage!

In the meantime ive a very nice new A6 Auto TDI Avant to plod about in. The quality and feel makes the RS seem very dated. Very nice drive, can barely tell its an oil burner. Its the size of a small boat but doesnt actually feel heavy and its fairly brisk.

Anyway, fingers crossed for a good result. Impressed with the service and communication so far from them.

must just me then that has no luck with warranty / stuff like this !

Paid £1400 for the oil cooler - no good will and they said it would not be covered under warranty ! (Camberley) I have the very expensive full Audi extended warranty which so far has covered a sum total of nothing !

admittedly I did get a goodwill reduction on my front DRC dampers which they did for me before christmas but once again not covered under warranty so I paid the rest

to be fair actually my cooler pipes weren't leaking - were heavily corroded and falling apart but not yet leaking so perhaps thats why..

Cooler pipes are definately not covered under warranty, they suggested the reason id got goodwill was partly down to milage (35k 07)

Is yours higer milage?

Ive not had confirmation they are going to cover DRC but on the basis its under warranty, un modified, full audi history im expecting them to cover it.

We shall see, they seem to be fighting the cause.

I recently had a leaking damper replaced FOC on my RS4 under Audi goodwill @ 43,500 miles.

mine had done 42k (and needed front dampers doing)

the goodwill paid for 40% of the cost so reduced the bill a lot

oil cooler though was a no no on the warranty and goodwill front.

Hi all, seems strange that warranty isn't consistent. Over the last 18 months I have had both auxiliary rads, DRC work and oil cooler with pipes all replaced under Audi extended warranty. On top of this I have had new steering rack and sub frame due to front end creaking. They tried rack first but that didn't cure creaking :audibash:

Based on this I have kept the warranty on the car. Mine is 2007 now with 44k miles.

Perhaps they feel sorry for us cabby owners :boohoo:

How they can charge so much for oil cooler and pipes is beyond me! I just had new oil cooler pipes and and repaired the cooler all for £300.00

So, the info back is pretty good. Audi are going to replace one out of the 2x front shocks, apparently they deem one isnt leaking enough to warrant replacement, seems silly as i'll only take it back before warranty expires to have it checked again and replaced but they will do the one now. They will also do the steering pump and will do the Airbox valves all under warranty.

The bills still going to be heavy with a major service and the oil cooler/pipes but definately shows the value of a warranty.
