APR stage 1/2 for the B8.5

Post by 999pooch » Tue Feb 26, 2013 12:10 am

Just thought I'd post the reply I got from Evan @ APR regarding ECU encryption on the facelift S4:

email 25/02/2013:

"I'm at APR USA at the moment, and have spoken with our electrical engineers about this. All of the calibration applicable to your engine is already ready and they are hard at work on manufacturing the board to flash this new type of ECU. I expect to have the production solution ready in the next 2-4 months. It will cost the same as our current 3.0TFSI solution."

Anyone know how this timescale compares with MRC?

Last time I spoke with Doug at MRC it was a similar time frame.

I dont mind waiting as it gives us a couple of months to bed-in our cars and tackle any niggling issues with the dealership before going for the remap.

Yup, as Mojo said i'm happy to wait about 3 months before I get it done as I want to get the 1st service out of the way.

TBH, I haven't explored the full potential of the stock car yet. I need to get in the car by myself more :FIREdevil:

No worries about the (drive train) warranty getting voided?

My previous car was remapped and modded to the hilter from new. It was a VW MK5 Golf GTI. Had a few bits done under warranty. I guess some dealerships are a pain in the rear whilst others are quiet reasonable about it.

How old is your car/still under warranty?

I'm at just over 3 months. Still getting used to the power, will wait awhile before a remap, but it will happen!

Another update from APR tonight.

They have been busy getting the board ready, and reckon everything will now be in place to map the facelift models in 6-8 weeks :D
