Light Problem HELP

Post by NYC » Wed Jan 16, 2013 12:29 pm

Having a strange problem with my S4 Avant B7. At random times the car switches on the rear lights. Fault codes checked and comfort control box change but 2 weeks later lights were on when I woke up and battery almost flat. The car has coming home lights, DRL and auto headlights. It is not a regular thing was probably happening every week or 2 so hard to fault find. Apart from switching off all light functions then working through them one at a time I am a bit lost what to do next.

Has anyone had this problem? Please help?

Mine puts a rear light on if I leave the indicator switch on.... Soon as I turn it off it goes off?

Noticed the other day mines doing the opposite atm, no interior lights at all when I unlock it, and only the drivers footwell light when I open the drivers door.....

It should leave a front light on as well, this is parking convenience light.

Not sure about the interior lights but I know they have got intelligent footwell lights. Only the light of the door that is opened will come on. Hope this explains that bit Ian_C?
Current car: 2007 BMW 530d touring.

I'm absolutely sure the top lights used to come on when the car was unlocked, and certainly when the drivers door was open? Tell me I'm not going mad? Only the drivers footwell light coming on it like getting into a cave. Maybe I've knocked a switch or setting or something, or the lights have fused and the footwell light is a double on a separate circuit in case the main lights fail? I've still got rear footwells if I open the respective doors as you say. And the top 'map' lights work if I press the switches manually

The big switch on the roof near the map lights have you got it in the middle.... That's the only way the lights come on with doors open.

Ooooo cheers will check tomorrow. Vaguely recall putting the top light on recently when my passenger was looking for something, might have knocked it
