End of the world this Friday

Post by sonny » Wed Dec 19, 2012 4:32 am

So only 2 days to go...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_phenomenon

I remember reading a book in the 90s about this, hard to believe the date is here (21st December). The Mayans believe we are entering a new word ( 1 of 4) and the current will come to an end :FIREdevil:

My fav myth is from the Sumerian sagas that the planet Nibiru will come close to the Earth causing it to lose its trajectory. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nibiru_cataclysm

So whats everyone's opinions?

It's all been blown up out of all proportion.
My view is that it's like the "death" card in tarrot (not that I believe in such things). It doesn't mean literal death but the end of one thing and a start of another.
You could argue that december 31st is the end of an age and the death of a year - very easy to say especially if the words have been mistranslated as often happens with dead or unusual languages.
Hell, if you read Terry Pratchett "Thief of Time" then in here it's argued (By Wen the Eternally Surprised) that the universe is destroyed and created slightly differently and uniquely every instant (hence the only true state of being is surprise).

As has been pointed out by lots of people - if the mayan people were so good at predicting the future then we'd still have mayans.

Unless the Royal family decided to kill them off.

The Mayans did predict there downfall, some 400/500 years ago, this prophecy came true in the form of the invasion of the Spanish Conquistador who totally managed to wipe them out (albeit not in a apocalyptic style ending).

Indeed, just another life (2100 year) cycle.

Think I managed to pick up a ticket through a set of lights in Nottingham yesterday (went amber as i crossed the line) so I am hoping its lights out tomorrow.

Would rather the world ended than pick up any points....clean license this year for the first time in 11 years :-(

Bit of a selfish attitude - so we ALL go to Heaven so you get there with a clean driving license - I ask you.
Are you sure you're taking this seriously?
