RS4 B7 Cabriolet Adjustable boot box mechansim

I found out that the mechanism on my wife's B7 is broken. Although not life threatening it is annoying having to move the box up by hand to create more space in the boot.

So a few questions, is the mechanism the same on all A4 cabs?

Is there an easy way to replace this, it looks like I need to buy a new mechanism as well as plastic surround which has cracked. It happen with the previous owner but I think if you move the handle when the roof is down it snaps and that is that.

Any help appreciate as to how to repair/replace without going down the hugely expensive dealer route!
