That's a bit of a shocking long time! After how long does the car becomes yours by default?
Daytona RS6 C5 Avant. Viper'd, Billies, Waggers, MTM box brain, C6 stoppers, xcarlink, R8 coolant cap (woohoo)
///M3 E46 | XC90 (V8, natch) | Passat GTE | RR Classic V8 flapper

When audi said to me they would do the repair as a good will gesture, the dealership that's doing some of the work did say to me they do not know what caused it and may never know, not very reassuring really is it?

So what are they doing to repair it? You need to know what's broken to fix it!

Personally, I'd be happy driving a C7 S6. Let them take as long as they want.

As far as I am aware they are replacing the heating elements and rear seat.

By the time they have fixed it that c7 will be worth peanuts so you can just swap straight in to it!

Probably a real daft question,

Will the new leather seat colour match the worn and aged interior?
I used to own a 6, now I'm just a lurker!

That is very much one of the concerns I have.

I am in no way surprised given the damage to the seats that they are so accommodating. Those seats are meant for people to sit on and look at the damage it has caused. Kudos to audi for doing the appropriate thing.
She may be big and heavy but its whats on the inside that counts.....

Got a phone call from the local dealer today, saying the car is now ready for collection, this is the first time in 3 months that the dealer has contacted me regarding my car with any updates, the only contact I have had up until now is Audi UK.
I cannot collect the car for a least another week as i'm away but be interesting to see the result.

Finally I am collecting the car today, with one main question, "which part failed"?
Can I point out that audi uk itself have been excellent, supplied me with 2 great cars over nearly 4 months ( rs5 and s6)
Will be interesting to see the colour match on the material.
