Hi Craig.
I was having some other work done at the garage and asked them to replace the horns as they were not working.

The original replacements were nla.
So they got what they could for hi and low horns
I am really happy with them. Much better than the originals

I will check the invoice to see if there is any info on it.
If not I will call in the garage on Monday and get the info as they don’t work weekends.
They are about 500 yards from where I live.

Hi Craig.
Not much info on the invoice other than they cost £40.00 and it took 2.5 hours labour.
I will call in on Monday and see where they got them from.

Called in at the garage. Had a Quick Look without success.
They want me to give them the invoice date.

I wouldn’t stress any more about it. I have found 2 new horns now, which will hopefully leave Germany today or tomorrow :-)

Found the invoice for mine. Both horns were replaced. I'm assuming from TPS then. September 2015. Under £100 for the pair. Not that it's much use for anyone to know....it's probably due a second set by now

Just googled Audi G28 error
This interesting post came up.
Car has been ok since the AA attended. Fired up first time every time.

Autodoc delivered the Bosch crankshaft position sensor this evening.
I reckon I will wait on fitting it until the fault reoccurs.
I can then crank the engine and see if the speedo moves. If it doesn’t then it’s the CPS at fault.
If it does then it’s probably the fuel pump at fault.

In the meantime I have ordered a genuine external fuel pump so I have all bases covered.

Car wouldn’t start this morning. Cranking the car over and it was recording on the rev counter.
Tapped the external fuel pump with a rubber mallet and the car started up.
Guess my problem can be assigned to the fuel pump.

As soon as the new pump arrives I will get it installed. Nice easy job for a change.
Delivery is estimated at 4-5 weeks as it is a special order for a genuine fuel pump.

Huh. Seems fairly conclusive this time. Can't be coincidence twice in a row.

Although I would definitely unplug it and clean the electrical connections to see if that helps.

Hi Ben. Been on to the garage for that very same thing.
They will give me a ring when a ramp becomes available.

Did anyone get anywhere finding out which alternatives might do if the genuine Audi one isn't easily available?

I'm now going to find my rubber mallet just in case mine has the same issue!

Here is an interesting possibility:

https://www.rscarparts.de/kraftstoffpum ... a-neu.html

New Pierburg pump with same characteristics as the OE pump. They have added the OE type connector to it. RScarparts.de is reputable.
I'd get this one, if I wasn't able to identify the Pierburg part number.

Ha ha suz. I got the pump through Deutsche Parts.
It came in cheaper (£610.00) than originally quoted by LLL (£654.00) IIRC.

Shop came up with what looks to be a potential alternative.
But I went with a genuine pump while they are still available. After all this pump has lasted 21 years.

Ps Don’t hit too hard with the rubber mallet. Though it’s a good fix for £4.99.

Pps. The AA Guy used a metal hammer. Rough bugger.

The originals were made by TI Automotive. When you hold one in your hand they have TI Automotive stamped into the rubber sound absorber. If you look at them on the Audi Tradition website you can see this writing in the photos. TI Automotive own Walbro. But I have seen the Pierburg variant and it looks just the same. So I’m not sure if Audi had 2 suppliers or the Pierburg is aftermarket :-/

Craig.
I emailed TI Walbro when I was looking.
They emailed me back with a negative response.
