Ithought the gearbox had been uprated for 2001 cars?

So was the engine - a 2001 car is much faster than those built in the millenium year, something to do with all the decent audi engineers still spending their millenium bug cash options LOL!

He has told me that anything with a big engine and/or low fuel efficiency is, at the moment, just about impossible to sell. This seems to be the case, judging by the number of RS4s (and other performance cars) which have been for sale on various websites for a long time.
The B5 RS4 has a "small" engine by comparison at only 2671cc. It isnStill very happy with my B5. It's totally original, never had any paintwork done, totally standard and so far no problems (6k) can't knock it and it was registered Dec 2000 so no road tax worries. I could compare it with other vehicles for mid teens but I can't find anything that ticks so many boxes. Ps it's quite good on fuel when I've got passengers.

Anyone who considers the tax bracket of an rs4 as a serious factor in buying one quite simply shouldnt be buying an rs4,it should be at the bottom of a long list of things you should be considering ie while in my ownership will it need new brakes 1500 new exhaust 1500+ suspension 1000 quality tyres 6-800 clutch 7-1000 cambelt service 7-1000 gearbox rebuild and yes 2000 models had inferior baulk rings and go more often at up to 3500 for an overhaul etc etc

Simons4mtm why on earth would you pay the same or more for a 2000 model with the weaker gearbox that is more prone to developing the crunching selection problem at a cost of thousands to save yourself 100 quid a year in tax????????????????????? Sorry mate it doesnt stack up
