I’ve had this done recently the surround come out, the person who did my headlining heated it all up so it come free it splits in 2 basically

The trim surround piece is in 2 pieces , once you remove the 2 inserts with the lights and switches in you are left with the surround that is made of 2 pieces , i just nibbled away the plastic that was keeping the tabs together which holds the trim surround together , you will be able to split it in two the , I just used a hot glue gun to glue the tabs back together when I refitted it . the tabs are highlighted in the pic below , they are all round the surround but the only pic I could find showed the top end of the light fitting.

Sorry mate, not been on the forum much lately. You should have called me. 🤪

I actually elected to leave the trim in place and work around it. For me I thought that if I didn’t need to split it then why bother, it’s only adding a potential problem if I can’t put it back together properly.
