Hehe. Right, today's purchases so far have been a replacement mint condition sti red stitched handbrake lever as the current one shows signs of a lot of use since I sold her (always a good sign on a 4wd car.....), mint condition STI red stitched Momo airbag steering wheel as he appears to have either dribbled all over or wiped faeces on the stitching of the old wheel and the leather is looking very tired on the top. New headlight protectors too and a load more stuff that I can't even remember buying now. Detailer friend has come over and can't wait to get his hands on her.
Contemplating removing the beaten up JL Audio sub from the boot, binning the CD changer and also removing that horribly positioned amp under the passenger seat. Will have the see if the JL coaxials I put in her are up to the job or if I need the depth of the sub.. I am 50/50 between having nice audio like the 6 in there and mounting the amp where the cd changer used to be, or going for maximum weight saving by yanking the changer, sub and amp. Might have to be a saddo and weight them

Cheers Amar, such a shame, had fun in that car!
The engine size was a massive 1300cc though, although it did have 4 engine changes during my ownership!

Footers are you going to be using your scooby on track?
I built my mk2 golf for track work (and fast road) so I did keep an eye on weight but its a long way for me to the better circuits in the UK, so I put components up front and a sub in the boot and left it at that.
Plus if you are going to be running 500ish bhp in the car 15kgs of stereo isn't going to make that much of a difference.

I would be going for more power but it's all down to the clutch, she is going home to Subaru4you next week probably and the boss Len (I was one of his very first customers when he left Subaru as a STI master tech years ago and was working from someone's garage attached to their housegingertoss wrote:Footers are you going to be using your scooby on track?

I think you are right as the audio did sound very nice in there and the sub isn't too heavy at all. I will just rip out the CD changer (now defunct anyway as the attempt at the touchscreen repair went pretty well as expected, new head unit time....) and relocate the amp to the back of the seat where it should have been in the first place.
I am not a track goer, I just drive like an asshat on the UK roads where the conditions are safe enough to do so to be perfectly honest. If she was rebuilt in time and allowed on track at ADI I would bring her along and have a bash perhaps but I doubt I would be allowed on.
Have to have a serious look at what IDIOT did to the Wilwood brakes as they simply aren't performing as they should. 30k miles after I fitted them there is hardly any rotor wear and loads of meat left on the pads, bizarre.

Not as detailed though, it could just have been SORN. I told him the date the poor thing was crashed/crushed. I'll do the odd HPI check here and there for any forum members I have met in person or had dealings with. I don't want to be bombarded with requests though, hence the stipulation.Mr Footlong wrote:Swanny, brn7y actually posted info too for you on the previous pageswannny wrote:Cheers Amar, such a shame, had fun in that car!![]()

Re: Nostalgia attack, can buy back my favourite car I sold
Well, I just did it with wellies, not very stylish. From all the rain yesterday a swimming pool had turned up in the spare well, can't say I am surprised given the state of everything else. I am 99% sure this is from where IDIOT took the rear clusters off for some reason, then put them back on but slapped a few dollops of mastic around them unevenly, only not sealing them properly at all.....
The boot had been stripped bare, wiring cleaned and left open all day to dry out. Just came in from exercise, leaving madam downstairs. She had noticed the boot open on the car as she came in from work and knew that I was drying it out. Went to shower, lovely and sunny so was going to check the car over later and lock up, came out of the shower, pissing down with heavy rain.
Assumed that since madam was facing a window looking at the downpour, that would have sent her running off and shutting the boot for me. I do sometimes make the mistake of thinking that she has common sense...... Lots of lovely water in the boot again, panels all soaked and the wiring again. Fml.... Start all over again tomorrow.
At least I got that ripspeed gearknob off after , just have to recut the threads quickly as IDIOT bolted the retaining pins of the inside adaptor on so tight the some of the threads are totally mullered, shocker. Not a very interesting instalment but hey.

Re: Nostalgia attack, can buy back my favourite car I sold
Got back from Chemo today and didn't even make in to the house, put everything down in the front garden and went straight to tinkering. Tore pretty well all the interior out, boot is bone dry and doesn't smell like death anymore, replacement OE electric aerial installed and tested, roughly worked out how I am going to make up an auto folding mirror mod for her with override.
Removed the custom mounting plate for the CD changer in the boot where there was no mounting to be had previously, taking out about 8kg in the process as the CD changer appears to be made of pig iron and won't be going back in.
Buttloads of parts turned up for her today, the kitchen has parts all over it as well as the shed. Another ton of bits are turning up for her tomorrow and the next day
Sadly the touchscreen repair wasn't perfect enough for my liking and you could see a teeny bit of the conductive liquid at the bottom of the panel so I have binned the head unit and am just going to buy another JVC unit that will bolt straight in to the Bluetooth already in there.
Trying to figure out what new wheels to buy for her now. Have had back the 2 5k budget quotes for rebuilding/replacing the engine, will have a proper think about the options over the weekend before jumping the gun.
