A heating system as proposed would be very useful indeed, I looked into it but never happened. At this point it probably doesn't have too many more winters ahead of it in my ownership.

yup - some have little electric heating elements inside them that are powered by the battery to help keep the charge.

I would imagine there are others that use dfifferent electrolytes with better cold performance to stop it freezing.
I noticed on "Ice road truckers" they never turn the engines off :)
