Andrew are you going to provide a similar posted service for the March issue then?

R5 YUG, if the demand is there then yes.
If anyone wants to pre-order March and then please by all means express your interest here, I am sure if we can bypass the Ebay commission then we can give you all 1st class postage rather than the standard 2nd class for £4.50 and thus you will get the mag the the day after it lands at Autometrix HQ.

I should point out I have no commercial interest in this venture, I just thought Autometrix should maybe try this great thing called Ebay so set up the Ebay ad for them :)

Great well I'm up for it, my local newsagents rarely have stock of Audi Driver... well not when I get time to get to them they don't!

Hi

All,

Yep i bought w272 ewl! Love it to bits, needs a few niggles sorting out and a good clean up! Well spotted on the rear bumper grills! Were fine till i pressure washed it! Will source some new replacements asap. Hoping to get it to MRC for a health check then just enjoy it.

Ive got the picture of the car with JayKay but any other pictures of the car would be greatly appreciated! Being abused or not!

Ross

Welcome Ross.

Did you see this pic?
It was when it was for sale in 2009 and it still has the number plates that were in the Jay Kay pic (the lettering is different on newer plates).

I would be up for prepurchasing the next issue. The last was good reading and I also went the ebay route. Was great value even after being sent down under to Oz.

With respect to Ben Williamson's engine problems page in this issue, what is he talking about when he states that the cams can't be replaced without replacing the head too!!
The head design of this engine, along with many Audi units, requires the camshaft bearings to be line-bored when they are manufactured, matching them to the camshafts. This means that new camshafts cannot be obtained and so any damage to the cams or their running bearings means, you guessed it, new heads!
Where does that myth come from or was that the case originally? :bash:

I agree does sound odd that one cannot change the camshaft without changing the cylinder head... that would be a first. Perhaps someone can confirm this and write to the editor of the magazine?

Confirmed, had one bank of cams changed (Cam wear) and no head removal it's unfounded.

Yeah, plenty of people have had one or more cams changed, which is why I wondered where this story came from.

I suspect it is an economies thing where journos are time pressured and take what ever information they can get in as little time as possible, often with out verifying their findings or checking with the original source.

I think they could have also wrote a little more about supsension upgrades which is really one of the most transforming mods rather than just simple chipping and/or exhaust.

Hopefully this will be covered in the March issue. I know I went into some detail about it.

Whether it gets included is another matter....
