The middle boxes are resonators, they chop some of the high frequency noise but don't do much else. Wrapping the pipes inside the rear boxes makes a lot of difference to the sound of the exhaust.

No droning, wouldn’t even know it’s been done on motorway journeys 70mph. But you certainly know about it once you press on the loud pedal.

There is (or was) a thread sometime back with pictures of the job. Put simply, it's a case of cutting open the boxes, removing the packing, wrapping the perforated pipes with heat proof foil and exhaust wrap then welding the boxes closed again. There's a bit more to it, like knowing where to cut the boxes etc.
I thought of doing it to my exhaust while I had the car off road but in the end decided against it.

Thanks for that Guys. I def thought there Would be a drone with the back boxes removed.

Due to MOT hurdles I may go for back box delete for handyness. Well if u call putting them back on every yr for MOT.

Found this system today but the tips look a tad small Image

I’d go for the cutting out and weld in straight pipe option. That way you can retain the original tips for a standard look. And in my opinion the standard tips are spot on. But that’s just my opinion, the link for eBay. I’m not sure if that is compatible with RS6 C6
