B8 issues (purchasing) inc configurator and test drive...

Went to Hatfield Audi last night. Gave them little notice, turned up scruffy as per!, didn't prearrange a test drive just wanted to look at one they got in.
Ended up test driving it, and buying it there and then (pending finance going through).
So - I stand by my statement Hitchin Audi have lost the sale they could have had from me.
I happened to mention it to the salesman there - who was a keen RS enthusiast and follows several forums - and he implied that I'm not the first to say that both Hitchin service and customer care has slipped. Which is a genuine shame as I used to regard them so highly.

The problem I now face is from a service perspective - I do kinda need to try them still I guess!

Spec is exactly what I wanted, except it doesn't have advanced key. But, I've decided I can live with pressing a button on a remote to open the car, and now you're not turning a key to start it rather just pushing it in a slot on the dash, it's no real hardship anyway. Most of the time in the RS6 I slung my keys in the cup holder - which was irritating when you then went to put a drink in anyway!

So spec:

Panther black,
Black on black inside, with Carbon inlays,
Pano roof,
Tech Pack Advanced,
B&O audio,
Parking system advanced,
Adaptive cruise control,
Lane departure warning,
Power boot,
Sports Pack (Drive Select, Sports exhaust etc)
Buckets,
Privacy glass,
20" wheels.

Probably missed some stuff, but the must haves were panther black, 20" wheels, sports package and pano roof. The buckets are a pleasant add-on given how much I like to track cars still

I did. Gave a very fair price for it, plus negotiated for GAP insurance and first service included. I'm hoping to hear today it's been confirmed

Congrats Ross. Great spec! Could have guessed it was going to be another black one!

Looks like the car has disappeared from their website? You'll probably won't miss the 6s keyless - especially with power boot from the remote. My uncle has this on his B8.5, and whilst he didn't like it at first compared to his first B8, he quite likes it now!

Hope you got a deal - the other Panther black without buckets (ie not yours) on the website is a bit rich for a 2014 with those miles

And thanks Ian - yes much better buy I think for the one I have. I initially went to look at the one on the website but when I phoned the salesman (Danny, who couldn't have been more helpful) said this one (the one I've ended up buying) came in the day before and wasn't even in the website yet as not checked in/vetted etc.

My deal included the part-ex of my c6 (about 3k less than I expected with a private sale but still only £1k less than I paid for the car in the first place), gap insurance, next service, and fixes to the snags - a rattle, refurb of the alloys etc. I'm pleased with the deal so really I guess that's what matters.

Good work Ross. The B8 looks great in Panther Black. Make sure you get the deal with the gap and service in writing, they seem to have a habit of not knowing about the service when you take it in and the salesman 'forgets'.

Nice one Ross. I've purchased 3 cars from Hatfield Audi in the past, there service has always been very good. Danny is a top guy and a true petrol head, the whole team there great imo.
